Teri Schivao Dies
Honolulu Blue has this at the end of the poll thread, but she died today at 41.
She's in a lot better place than she was. |

Well, my guess is that if I truly wanted to die, I could have done it in less time than her. Hope her husband has a great time the rest of his life.

I watched my mother starve to death with stomach cancer. She knew she was dying and didn't want to prolong the grief for my family. She told me as much. Once she was no longer able to take any nutrition at all it still took weeks to die. You are ignorant. Perhaps now that you know this, you won't bother "guessing" in the future.

If we thought this was a circus think of the battle for the carcass and the Shindler's being ''advocates'' for a certain right wing political party for the next 4 years.

i wonder if the media knows that in many circles - Terri Schiavo is a running joke (well, i don't know about the running part, ba-dump-bump). in fact, i'd be willing to put money down that says contrary to the mass saturation of "All-Terri, All the time" coverage and pro-Terri protestors, they are actually in the minority and that the country has become numb to the circus.

Yep, horrible, horrible man wanting to be with his wife when she died. What scum. You do realize that by mutual agreement the two families will not be in the room with her at the same time? This is simply more family propoganda. Nothing else.

Or the family authorizing the sale of the list of the names and addresses of people who funded their legal fight to Marketers and those who they believe would share similar viewpoints.
(From the NY Times) WASHINGTON, March 28 - The parents of Terri Schiavo have authorized a conservative direct-mailing firm to sell a list of their financial supporters, making it likely that thousands of strangers moved by her plight will receive a steady stream of solicitations from anti-abortion and conservative groups. "These compassionate pro-lifers donated toward Bob Schindler's legal battle to keep Terri's estranged husband from removing the feeding tube from Terri," says a description of the list on the Web site of the firm, Response Unlimited, which is asking $150 a month for 6,000 names and $500 a month for 4,000 e-mail addresses of people who responded last month to an e-mail plea from Ms. Schiavo's father. "These individuals are passionate about the way they value human life, adamantly oppose euthanasia and are pro-life in every sense of the word!"

Now that she's dead will the Shindler family be allowed a few days to mourn over her. What I mean is: Will they have a viewing before handing the body back to Schiavo or will she be cremated and sent to Pennsylvania.

They had a viewing shortly after she died. They weren't allowed in the room while she died, but they were admitted in shortly after. I wonder if the cremation plans will now be contested. Her parents didn't want that to happen either. |

and you're telling me that when all the challenges have been exhausted, when the Schindlers have admitted defeat, that Schiavo can't do the gracious thing and allow the parents in as she's drawing her last breaths? That they can't each set aside their grievances with one another for another time and place? If that's true, then they're both schmucks - not that that mightn't be the case anyway. |

There is no question they're both schmucks. However, there is no possible way they can be in the same room, especially during her last moments. The family firmly believes that he is murdering their child. Could anyone be reasonably expected to not act when watching someone kill someone they love? I think it's entirely possible that they would physically attack him, try to kill him. This isn't some petty grudge, this isn't merely a grievance with each other. This man is in the act of killing their daughter. Regardless of your personal view of the act itself, that's what they believe and that's how people act. I think it is pretty difficult to judge either the parents or the husband, to be honest. I can see myself acting the same way if it was a) my child or b) my spouse.
The only bad, bad people here are the ones making jokes at Terry Schiavo's expense...

I'll avoid the easy and obvious micheal shiavo making schindlers list reference.. What are they gonna do now that their way overdrawn 15 minutes(years?) of fame are up.. You think they'll try and sue micheal shiavo or even the united states of america in a wrongful death civil suit? really wouldn't put it past them at this point.. |

I expect them to file a wrongful death suit against Michael Schiavo. However, there is not enough (if any) evidence that he caused her condition and/or death.

Well, considering their litigation is basically free since they have the backing of some major lobbyists and sold their list, I expect plenty of suits. I could see them as being satisfied only when he's used all his money to fight their frivolous suits. They are playing with house money.

I think the Shindler's were emotional distraught over the impending death of their daughter which allowed them to be taken advantage of by others, such as a couple of doctors, lawyers, the priest, etc who were seeking to exploit the situation for their gain.
