He passed.
It's disappointing, really, but it's something I have no control over, so oh well. He's still an idiot and a tool.

I'm still unemployed. Got turned down for my last job because my asking about potential for future education/getting a PhD made them think I didn't have long-term interests in the company. Sadly, what I was really trying to do was make sure I didn't eliminate options, I really have no idea what I'm going to do long-term. Oh well, live and learn, that question will not be asked again in future interviews.

What can I say, life's not fair. Just got back from interviewing at a local bicycle shop (http://www.citybikes.com), so hopefully I'll be able to get a little bit of money flowing my way (you know, so I can pay rent). On a side note, anybody who felt like being extremely helpful to me could go to my blog (link in sig) and click on any and all of the ads in the "Ads by Goooogle" box. I get a few pennies when those ads are clicked, and well...every little bit helps. You could even do it daily if you really wanted to help me out. [/shameless plug]

Alas.
Life sucks for me right now. I'm past angst and am just depressed and bored.

You can always count on Franklinnoble to put a little "fuck you" in the day, I've noticed.

Your hate has made you powerful. Give in to your anger.

BTW... TK... checked your blog. Couldn't help notice that in your "Blogs I Read" section, you list "wilwheaton.net"

I have no comment.

Also, I don't see an "Ads by Goooogle" box... am I missing something?

Hmmm.
In defense of wilwheaton.net, his page is usually kind of interesting..though I no longer visit it on a daily basis.

As for the "Ads by Goooooogle" box, it's in the right sidebar underneath all the links (to other sites and to the archives).

Try down toward the bottom right, below all the links and stuff.

Just above the black google search box & below the links -- the "ads by Google" sentence is very small, but the ads themselves for stuff like Spade and ... some other stuff I don't remember, should be pretty hard to miss, but they ARE just text/link ads, not graphics. (or else maybe they just aren't showing up for you at all).

Edited to add -- strange stuff, cause I'm browsing with Mozilla as usual but they showed up for me. Ah the mysterious ways of computers & the internet

Wonder if it's my adblock... dunno... but I clicked a bunch of them from IE.

TK, you need to write more perverted stuff in your blog... you'd get more interesting ads for us to look at.

I tried that. You really don't make nearly as much money as you'd think.

Fritz,

Just because it worked for you, doesn't mean it works for everyone...

"The S-Works Tarmac E5 might just be the fastest accelerating bike ever. "

What a load of bunk! How can you work for those guys!

I'm at war with my local bs now. Bastards charged me...get this...$10 for about 18" of housing and a der. cable. I'm bent. . .I'll NEVER go back there again.

I HATE that the shop I worked in for 7 years on & off is out of business. It was soooo nice not ever paying for a tube, cables, lube, stand time. . .employee purchase bikes, wheel sets, tires. . .guh

Hey I'm not going to fault them for putting the things that Specialized says about their bikes on the website. They have to sell bikes. As a general aside, have you SEEN the S-Works Tarmac E5? It is one SEXY bike with a very unique frame style (love what you can do with unibody frame).

These guys are good guys. I trust their head mechanic (Bega), who I've known for years and is one hell of a cyclist and a damn good wrench. They're the ONLY bike shop in the area I like (and in this area there are a ton of bike shops).

I know, dMB, that you are a bike freak like I am, but please don't fault this shop based on its website. They really are a great place.

Bah, I'm just palying around. It's the engine, not the body.

On the bright side, I know we always were actively seeking to find women to work in the shop. It's quite male dominated, at least we always were. Finding women with enough social sense, sales ability, and communication skills that were also cyclists was extremely difficult. You know that when a woman comes in, they don't want to ask me about a jog bra, or if they should wear underwear or not under their shorts, or if a female specific saddle will really help their who-who pain. They'd much rather talk to you. . .so good luck!
