1st and 10 .. aka What The F is ESPN doing?

Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless in a special olympic version of PTI.

I am glad this is the only time I've seen this mishap.

Don't mean to threadjack, but I was so pissed at ESPN this weekend. There are like 15 MLB games being played on Sunday and what does ESPN play? Women's college softball. I'd take a AA minor league game over that.

espn must have enough money to pay whatever it costs to mlb to be able to broadcast some games.

This is the way it has been for years and years. ESPN has rights for certain days, including Sunday night but not afternoon. They just can't decide one day to show a game because they want to.

They have some rights to show games during Sunday afternoons toward the end of the season, but I think you're right, they just can't do it whenever they want. They did get expanded rights as part of the last renegotiation, which is why they get to show the Red Sox/Yankees games on a Thursday, or a 1pm game on a Tuesday every now and then.

Wait. Is this a new show or are Smith and Bayless subbing in for Konheiser and Wilbon? They did that a few times last year. It was horrible. It made my ears and eyes bleed.

They show the 1st and 10 segments from Cold Pizza as a seperate show on ESPN at 4:30 ET. Woody Paige is usually on, not Smith.

Ah, thanks. Smith subs in for Paige? Wow. That's actually an improvement. Having Paige and Bayless together is like hell on earth. I have hated Paige for a long, long time...

That trivia show they have is actually kind of fun. The questions are pretty tough and they guy knows his stuff. However it is hosted by Stuart Scott. He makes so many dumb comments that it makes the show unbearable to watch.

I'd rather have Stu Scott make idiotic comments on a meaningless game show or that crap Dream Job than waste space during stuff that matters like the draft or even SportsCenter.

I know this may get me banned but since Fred Hickman has been on, I have been watching more and more SportsCenter

At least you get a different opinion with Smith (who I don't like along with Paige and Bayless and the AtH crew). But then you have to listen to Paige say the exact same stuff an hour later. Time for some new faces. These guys are too full of themselves now. THey just don't compare to PTI.

I never understood this, and I think I may have asked it on these baords once but I can't remember...

Why is PTI preempted for Golf like THREE+ times a week, it seems like? Are the ratings for PTI that bad? Or what's up with this? And Tony and Michael seem to take a lot of time off... is their contract just like that?
