Raiders trade Buchanon to Houston
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...len&id=2041266
Very interesting developments. Think Oakland got all they could? Washington was rumored to be offering the #9 overall pick...is a 2nd and 3rd better than that? |

I like the move by on Houston's part. They had an extra 3rd rounder from the Henson trade, and Buchanon and Robinson will be a very good CB tandem for many years after Glenn leaves. For this season it'll allow them to matchup well against the Colts and all of their WRs. Hopefully they'll be able to get Barron or Brown with the #13 pick, or better yet find someone that wants to trade up a few spots and get them later, since neither seems to be an elite prospect

With the way their salary cap is, I think so. Also, "Showtime" got burned too many times in man coverage last year. Yes, he did score a touchdown every year, but he also got burned a lot. Now, if they can get rid of Charles Woodson...

I'm glad the Redskins didn't trade for him. Buchanon is a dick, and he's overrated.

The Raiders didn't pass on the #9. They were trying to get it from Washington for Buchanon and the #38 but couldn't convince the Redskins to be more foolish than they already are. Apparently even Joe Gibbs' stupidity has limits.

This move almost deserves a thread of it's own. Well maybe if it was created within 15 hours of the trade.

Ah, okay. Thanks for pointing that out civilly. Some people would be sarcastic and mean-spirited.

As I posted in the other thread, Excellent deal for the Raiders. Buchanon was a bust as a 1st rounder. It's not surprising his nickname in Raider cirlcles is PBurnt. He does have talent at cornerback and is a good punt returner, but he's been a terrible starting CB since his rookie season. And don't be crazy. Washington was not offering the #9 pick for PBurnt. Forget any rumor regarding this as it would be absolute bullcrap. The only rumor for that pick that might make sense is Charles Woodson since he is 10 times better than Buchanon. Doug Jolley traded for the Jets 1st (26), and a 7th. We gave up a #2 that we got from Texans, and both our 6th round picks. We still have two comp picks in round 6.
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.c...1/RAIDERS21.TMP Another very nice deal. With the emmergence of Courtney Anderson, Jolley would have not played much anyway. |

Another good deal. Teyo Johnson and Courtney Anderson can handle the TE duties, and most of the balls are going to be thrown to Moss, Porter, Curry, and Gabriel anyway.
The Raiders give up Jolley, a 2nd, and two 6ths for the #26 pick. The Redskins give up a 1st, 3rd, and a 4th for the #25. Glad I'm not a Redskins fan. |

Not too much a fan myself. But if they think he's the guy, i guess moving down 21 spots and picking him up is decent. But that move just sapped a lot of draft day excitement out of me. |

Hmm..if the alternative was a kid from the first round that wouldn't have been a tight end - and paying him lots of money..I figure this has to be an okay deal for the J-E-T-S.
I mean, maybe the guy will find himself in the swamp?

I get the feeling Jolley will be a good fit there. He's athletic...not a run blocker but would be a nice short route option. Kind of a Fauria type. Many people believe this draft is fairly muddled from 20-50 so moving down isn't horrible.

Most likely it will be Nnamdi Asomugha (1-31 pick in 2003), recent free agent acquisition Renaldo Hill, and/or whichever cornerback they pick up with the #25 or #38 pick. Denard Walker is still around, but he's crap. |

I think there's a good chance. I forgot about Nnamdi Asomugha too tho. He probably will start.
