The Daily Show interview with the Town Hall architect

There was a big thread awhile back about the people in Denver that were thrown out of the town hall meeting for wearing the T-shirts with a message that was not so supportive of the president. Somehow, the Daily Show got the main organizer of these Town Hall events to sit down for an interview. You'll need QuickTime installed to be able to watch.

I don't want to taint it with my opinions, I'd prefer to let people decide for themselves.

I don't want to view it, I'd prefer that you taint me with your opinions and give me the gist of it.

I called an old buddy of mine a taint at a bowling alley once (in fact, I think my best friend and I gave him the name "Taint" on the bowling boxscore there). He said, and I quote:

Him: "Oh I get it. Am I tainting your fun?"
Us: "Yeah, that's it."

Taint. Such a useful word.

That's pretty funny stuff, but is it really suggesting the Republicans are the only one that do this kind of "staged" shows, or unethical manipulations? Both sides try to cover BS with a pretty can of paint.

First of all no. All the interview is doing is making fun of the town hall meetings that Bush has used to push social security.

Second of all, the Daily Show isn't a news show, it doesn't have to be so politically correct because its satire. Pure and simple.

Third, people who watch the Daily Show are pretty intelligent for the most part and would probably know that this BS happens on both sides of the aisle.

Who said anything about political correctness? I was just pointing out that both sides do this crap.

I am astonished that anybody still talks to the Daily Show (or at least anybody who is a national figure and is semi-serious about the interview topic). By now they must know that they'll be made to look like jackasses/morons/manipulative bastards.

Although I suppose there's always the old "there's no such thing as bad publicity" angle to consider...

Broad strokes of BS on both sides sure, but no person has ever held "members only" town hall meetings. It should be illegal for a president to exclude americans just because they dont affiliate themselves with his political party. Mise well divide the country and have 2 presidents then.

Manute Bull for President.

When it's done on the campaign trail (as the Bushies did this past election) it's fine, but when it is done using public funds (the Social Security Bamboozlepalooza tour has already cost taxpayers millions and millions of dollars) it should be illegal.

Thats true, I agree. Then the use of the "Town Hall" should be illegal in the name of good taste.
