Knowledge Squared: Game 1 (Classic Video Games)

(PM All answers and %'s to me, all answers due by 8 PM Friday. Note, if you want to make up wild guesses to throw the % off, it's sneaky, but it is possible )

How much do you know, and how much do you think the people around you know?

There are two parts to each question. one has to do with a general topic, set for each game. The 2nd part asks you what percentage of folks who respond to the question will get it right. To score points, you must first get the first part of the question right. Then the 5 closest guesses to the % of people who get the question right score points.. 5 for the closest, down to 1 for fifth.

Game 1: Classic Video Games

1. Mario (of the Super Mario Brothers) has had a long and varied career. He's a plumber. Played golf. Tennis. He's raced Karts. He's watched people get beat up by Mike Tyson. He's saved Princessess and realms. But there was one game, where Mario was not the hero. Instead, he was the Villain! What classic game had Mario as the villain?

2. Video Games have been horrifying parents for years. But we're coming upon the 30th anniversary of the first game to really scare parents. Inspired by a movie that it shares the same name with, it was a driving game that involved driving over gremlins, when they were hit, died and were replaced by gravestones. Name the 1976 arcade game.

3. The computer game Metroid was one of the biggest selling games in Nintendo history. It introduced the first real female hero, the fearsome Samus Aran. However, the title creature the Metroid, wasn't really the bad guy in the game. Instead, the game's end boss was controlling the Metroids. Can you name the endboss of Metroid?

4.This tank-based arcade game was prized by players for its periscope based action. However, it cost too much due to high construction cost, and quickly was relegated to a niche game in most arcades. However, it raised enough eyebrows with its game play to interest the military, who approached the developers to make a Military version of the game. Can you name this game?

5.Well, Pac-Man.. he's been chomping dots and ghosts alike for 25 years. His Wife and family have joined in the tradition, but we're talking about Big Pac, and Mrs Pac in this question. Can you name all five ghosts from the ORIGINAL Pac-Man and Mrs. Pac-Man?

Got everyone's so far. Some guesses have been right, some guesses have been wrong (and amusing)
