Mmmm...Guinness... :D

So I'm sitting here flipping through the June 2005 issue of Bicycling magazine, when lo and behold, on page 44 there's a little blurb about why Guinness is great:

"Forget thsoe faddish, ginseng-enhanced beer-and-Red Bull hbrids and look to a classic: Turns out Guinness really is good for you. Dark beers are high in vitamin B, which is believed to help break down homocysteine an amino acid that has been linked to heart disease. A University of Wisconsin study found Guinness to be twice as effective as lager in preventing blood clots in dogs. Plus, it has fewer calories (12.3/ounce) than Budweiser and the same low alcohol content (4.2 percent) as Coors Light."

I knew I loved Guinness before. But now I have even more reason to love it.

Why would I want to drink a low alcohol beer?

"Pints Of Guinness Make You Strong"

Evelyn sits by the elevator doors
It's been 37 years since James died on St. Patrick's Day in 1964
But she could not hold it against him
There were times when there was nothing she could do
But lie in bed all day beside a picture of them together
A picture of better days

And just like James, I'll be drinking irish tonight
and the memory of his last work week will be gone forever
Evelyn I'm not coming home tonight!
If we're never together
If I'm never back again
Well I swear to God that I'll love you forever
Evelyn I'm not coming home tonight!

In all the years that went by she said
She'd always love him
and from the day that he died
She never loved again

In his wallet she kept in her nightstand
an a.a. card and a lock of red hair
she kept secrets of pride locked so tight in her heart
it killed a part of her before the rest was gone.

She said, "If I would have known just how things would have ended up I just would have let myself die."

And just like james, I'll be drinking irish tonight
and the memory of his last work week wil be gone forever
Evelyn I'm not coming home tonight!
If we're never together
If I'm never back again
Well I swear to God that I'll love you forever
Evelyn I'm not coming home tonight!

One of the best sounds in the world is opening a pub can of guiness. I think I may drink some right now out of my coffee mug at work.

BTW, is anyone else turned on by the fact that a girl started a post about beer, I hear your looking for a roomate

Corrected that post for you. Guinness is not just beer! There's beer is just recycled Guiness.

Guinness has a bit too much of a...don't know how to describe it, smoky I guess...taste for me to really enjoy by itself, although it has grown on me. Personally my favorite beer is a nice hoppy extra pale ale. We're blessed with a pretty damn good local one made by Summit. I can barely even drink lagers anymore at this point because they just don't have enough flavor.

My wife has had a Beamish for the first time last week-end (I managed to get her order one, and she liked it). I still hope one day, I will be able to have her get a Guinness

Similar, but not nearly as good. Ziegenbock in close, though, but you probably don't have that up in Oh-Hi-Oh either...

If I make it up for the Texas-Ohio State game, I'm bringing at least a couple of cases. Do you know if they allow tailgating at The Ohio State University? If so, I also have access to one of those towable BBQ pits.
