Star Wars....The TV Show??

Producer-director George Lucas plans more "Star Wars" projects beyond "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith," Daily Variety said Tuesday.

The paper said Lucas told a weekend fan convention in Indianapolis his production company, Lucasfilm, will continue the "Star Wars" series with two TV shows.

He said plans call for a 3-D animated half-hour that carries on the storyline from the "Clone Wars" miniseries that Lucasfilm did for Cartoon Network. He also said his company is working on a live-action series featuring some supporting characters from the "Star Wars" movies.

"We're probably not going to start that for about a year," he said. "Like on 'The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles,' we want to write all the stories for the entire first season all at once."

Lucas said he would probably step away from the series after hiring producers and staff and getting the series under way. Variety said both series would be set in the years between the end of "Revenge of the Sith" and the beginning of the original 1977 "Star Wars" movie, which Lucas titled "Episode IV -- A New Hope."

Happy Life Day!

Yeah, Lucas pretty much burned the holiday special. It's never been released on video or DVD, yet the Ewoks movie has. How low is that?

I'm cautiously optimistic. Young Indiana Jones was a tremendously underrated series. I think it was too cinematic for TV; it never could generate the ratings that it's budget justified.

I liked the Ewok movies. I also liked the Young Indiana Jones series and can't wait for it to arrive on DVD.

George Lucas confirmed at Celebration III that The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles is in production for DVD release either late 2005 or in 2006.

I liked the Young Indiana Jones series, too. Just another in the long line of "things that should still be on tv today considering all the crap that's out there".

Hopefully this is at least as good as the Holiday Special.

edit: didn't realize that someone else had already mentioned this. I've seen the special. It is unbelievable. There is a 12 minute period with no dialogue aside from Chewbacca's family grunting and signalling to each other.

Well this basically means that episode III will introduce a bunch of fringe characters whose only purpose (forget the plot ... that means nothing) is to have us recognize characters when they reintroduce them in the TV series.

This doesn't sound good...

you didn't think Jimmy Smits took the role of Leia's adoptive father just to have a cameo in the prequels did you?

Kevin Smith writing and directing Star Wars TV series
Posted on Wed, 27-Apr-2005

IESB has confirmed that "Jay and Silent Bob" brainchild Kevin Smith will indeed be involved in the forthcoming live-action "Star Wars" TV Series.

According to the site, "Kevin's involvement will be in the writing and directing of at least a three episode story arch."

The abovementioned site also caught up with Smith's regular co-star Jason Mewes at the "House of Wax" premiere and discovered Smith was also lucky enough to see "Revenge of the Sith" this week.

The good news?.... drumroll....Smith said the film is "amazing", just as grand as "The Empire Strikes Back", regarded by many as not only the finest of the "Star Wars" films but one of the slickest flicks of all the time.

"He said it's really dark....he likes it a lot", says Mewes. "He said it's as good as Empire...[but] a lot darker than Empire".

Excellent.

I just watched that last night. Pretty good CGI for a fan film, the acting not so much.
