I heard about Wells this morning on the radio, saw about Schilling when I got home and turned on ESPN. What is the diagnosis with Schilling?

I have a profound appreciation for his condition...the tendon that they were trying to prevent him from tearing during the WS last season is one of the tendons I repeatedly tore (and is thus why my ankle is now fused).

here's the info from Sox fansite BostonDirtDogs.Com

"The term the doctors are using is a bruising of the bone. In the general area where he had problems last year. They're gonna put him in a boot for a couple of weeks. He needs to alleviate the pain. We all know he can pitch with pain, but right now this pain means that we don't want this to get worse, so they're going to alleviate the stress from it in a boot. He's going to talk to a nutritionist, a couple people, try to use these couple weeks to do the best he can at other things. He said he felt a tweak right at the very end (of his outing in Tampa). He went out and threw a side, we went and had some tests with the medical people. We'll get through today's game adn set our rotation. We're kind of crazy to set it in stone (with the impending rain) until after today."-- Terry Francona on with WEEI's Dale and Holly

Bone bruise above area where Curt had ankle surgery.
Schilling felt pain after throwing a pitch in Tampa Bay.
Felt pain in yesterday's side session
Decision was made last last night after a bone scan.
Theo feels they caught the problem early.
Spot may be filled within the organization.
Wade Miller could be rushed. DiNardo, Wake on short rest options.
Could be after effect of the surgery.

Last I checked, they were both still in the MLB.
