OT-Computer help re-installing windows

I am trying to reinstall windows. When I attempt to boot from the CD that doesnt work. When I select delete the old operating system and reinstall the new one I get an error message saying disk compression is in use. I can get to a C: prompt and I know there is a way to delete the windows folder and re-install from there. Does anyone know that prompt or haave any advice. I'd rather not have to re format the whole drive.

Why can you not boot with the CD? Can you boot into safe mode? What version of Windows are you using? Need some more information before I can help.
