My dynasty: Increasing readership
Hi guys,
Could you look at this thread... http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/~fof/for...ad.php?t=38194 ...and tell me what I'm missing? I'm not looking for attention, but I'd like to attract some basketball fans, and it seems like not many are reading. Is there something I can provide that would help that? Dynasty experts, please help! |

I have not having taken the time to actually read your dynasty yet (though I will give it a shot) but my first thought was that there is too much to read each day. On the 20th you started you started the dynasty. That day you posted 11 LONG posts. That is a lot to take in at once. One long post is fine, 11 is too much. Slow your posts down.

I had started the dynasty over at GreyDog, but their forums are low in membership. So I brought it over here. When I started posting here, it was already 11 posts deep, so I figured I'd post them all. Poker and real-life basketball has made me slow down since then. ![]() |

Well after a quick meander I don't know if it'll make you feel better or worse to know that you're not really missing anything as far as I am concerned, as it actually looks to be a fairly good dynasty; you simply are doing a game that I don't have an interest in and having never read anything of yours in the past I am not going to give it a shot based on author loyality.

I haven't written too much here, so I don't expect that.
![]() Through online leagues, I've written about 1500 pages of material. Just nothing here. Thought I'd enjoy the challenge. My goal is to get about 1000 pages worth in this dynasty. Of course, at this rate, it'd take me through a season and a half. |

Another thought that I had, you just started posting on the 20th, that is just 2 weeks ago. Over time as people see your dynasty near the top of the list regularly (meaning that you have been regularly updating them) they will decide to give it a try. I noticed with my Running to the Hall. dynasty that it had very low readership toward the beginning, but as I kept up with it I got a much larger audience.

This is what I do as well. There's only a couple dynasty writers that I follow from the beginning. New ones I'll check out after they get a couple pages and I see they are updating often. I have no desire to get interested in a dynasty and after 7 posts the writer drops it. |

Although I understand why you posted a lot in the beginning, this is still the same advice I would give (albeit coming from a very seldom dynasty poster). Better to post a little every day than a lot every week, it keeps the dynasty toward the top of the page more.

I think this is very true. I'm now in my fourth installment of the "frog in football" series and the first one, while it had a few readers, names I would recognize as coming often, now I see new names coming to the latest one... I think the idea is often that people have a certain "budget" of time alloted to reading, be it here or the dynasty forum or even reading the newspaper, and they don't always feel like spending it on something that is either an unknown to them (like I don't have much interest reading your dynasty as I don't care about basketball), or something from an author they don't know. Only advice it keep updating it, a little every day, and people will come ![]() Oh, and even more important, do it because you have fun doing it... FM
