Dancing with the Stars TV Show on ABC

"What It's about:
Paired with professional dancers, six celebrities train for and compete in a live television ballroom competition. Viewers are asked to vote for their favorite"

"The Stars:
The celebrities who will be competing Dancing With the Stars are Trista Rehn of "Bachelorette" fame, boxer Evander Holyfield, model Rachel Hunter, former pop star Joey McIntyre, Seinfeld actor John "Mr. Peterman" O'Hurley, and General Hospital actress Kelly Monaco"

I cant believe Holyfield is one of the dancers on it doing ballroom dancing.

it would be funny if they had Mike Tyson on it too trying to dance.

Unless the floor of the ballroom they are dancing on is Kathy Griffin, and their shoes have tiny knives attached to the soles...I won't be watching.

Sorry, that Kathy Griffin show from the other thread got me all fired up. Bill Hicks needs to come back from the dead and switch places with that no-talent buffoon.

No, some how I missed that Television Event(tm). A shame. Father Time is cruel. So very, very cruel. I will always think of Rachel Hunter as the supermodel she was in the laste 80's/early 90's when supermodels were really at that peak. The whole Cindy Crawford, Elle McPherson, Petra Powhateverherlastnamewas who married the dude from The Cars, Kim Alexis, Rachel Hunter, Kathy Ireland, etc., etc. Ah.... Those were good times to be an adolescent male. Good times...

I Google-imaged this Kelly Monaco and found the mmmmmmmming to be just.

I didn't realize that's who Kelly Monaco is. Back when my wife was regularly watching (and taping) soaps, including the short-lived Port Charles, I believe that was this chick's first real gig. I guess when they shut down PC and took a few characters back to GH, she was one of them. Interesting. I just remember her as a third-rate Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

It's Trista Sutter now...didn't you watch the "Trista and Ryan Get Married" special on ABC a couple years ago????

I TiVo'd this last night and watched it this morning, mainly to spare radii from the pain of having to watch it with me...I loved it! It's so horrible that it's great...I can't wait til next week!

Personally, I didn't think Kelly and her dancer-guy deserved the crappy score they got, I thought Evander and his dancer-girl did much, much worse! And am I the only one who sees Joey and his dancer-girl hooking up somewhere in the near future? They had major chemistry!

What I'm wondering is how they got all these superstars to agree to be on the show. I mean the guy that was Elaine's boss in Seinfeld? He's probably been swamped with offers to do legitimate acting in the 7 years since Seinfeld was on, and he agreed to do this!?!?

What have you seen him on? Me, I've seen him on some crappy game show (he might even have hosted a game show, too) and doing some tourism thing for Orlando, I think.

My wife often subjects me to General Hospital (curse you, SoapNet!) by keeping it on the flip during White Sox games. I am in complete agreement with the Kelly Monaco mmmmmmmmmmmming.

There is controversy on the final winner.

http://tv.yahoo.com/news/eo/20050727/112250394000.html

Quote:
Kelly Monaco is confident in her moves.

The General Hospital star says she's aware of the controversy surrounding her underdog victory over fan favorite John O'Hurley on ABC's Dancing with the Stars, but she's not fazed by it.

"I do not hold anything personally. I'm not going to go home and cry because someone did not like my dancing," Monaco told the Television Critics Association on Tuesday.

"If you don't like it, you don't like it. I wouldn't be sitting here if the whole world hated what I did."

Meanwhile, O'Hurley fans who are convinced that the Seinfeld star was robbed in the Dancing finale may get another chance to watch the actor shake his hips.

After 22 million viewers tuned in to watch Monaco and O'Hurley go head to head on the dance floor, ABC is considering reuniting the finalists for a rematch when Dancing returns to the airwaves, most likely in January.

"We are serious about it," ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson told reporters Tuesday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills. "I think it's a great idea."

As for Monaco, she's apparently prepared to accept the challenge.

"Bring it on," she told one reporter who asked her about the potential rematch. "You want a dance-off, come on up here. I'll give you a dance-off."

The actress and network representatives fielded a range of questions from reporters about how the voting system for the show operated and whether Monaco received any favoritism because of the fact that General Hospital also airs on the Alphabet net.

Some Dancing viewers complained that the show's voting system was confusing because it relied on input from both the viewers and the judges. Fan voting counted towards the following week's elimination, while the judges' votes counted towards the live episode's performance.

McPherson said that the network is considering creating a results show for Dancing's second season, similar to the format used by American Idol. However, he denied that votes were stacked unfairly in Monaco's favor.

"With Dancing, there is a valid concern without a results show, but I think we are going to consider whether a results show makes sense," he said. "To me, there is not much to say, the voting was not fixed whatsoever. What else is there to discuss?"

Controversial or no, Monaco's Dancing victory may have even twirled her into a role on another ABC ratings monster--namely, Desperate Housewives.

During an interview on Access Hollywood, the series' creator, Marc Cherry, hinted strongly that he was trying to work the soap star into the show.

"I think she's great," Cherry said. "I haven't started to think of how to fit her into Wisteria Lane, but she's awfully talented."

Monaco did not deny the suggestion that she might make a Desperate move.

"We'll see," she told Access Hollywood. "I can't say anything. I'm sworn to secrecy." (Desperate Housewives returns to the ABC schedule on Sept. 25.)

The second season of Dancing with the Stars is just one of the celebrity-themed reality competitions currently in the works.

Heh. My wife and I were talking about this on the night of the finale, and looked it up. The judges scores don't matter for the final show. Seriously, not at all. You get points in order of your score from the judges, and you get points in the order of your voting rank. In case of ties, the voting breaks it.

So for the final episode, Kelly beat John in the voting, and got 2 points to his 1. Regardless of the judging outcome; hell, regardless of their final performance, she wins - either outright, as she did, or by tiebreaker. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if the judges scores were rigged at the end to avoid the embarressment.

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, just google the playboy pics (her first "gig", even before GH ). Or find some of the Playboy Home Videos she's been in.

That was about as obvious as the original show. Either they fixed the results, or the masses really will follow the clues of the storyline and vote exactly like the show suggests.
