I've uploaded a 100-year history with a 16-team league. This league was run with what was pretty much the release version of the game.
Check it out.

Skydog,
From your beta testing does it look like modifiers won't be needed for realistic player development. Just quickly glancing over the career leaderboard, it looks good. |

The modifiers aren't nearly as necessary. Development is pretty realistic overall with the standard settings. The one development-oriented issue that he was unable to fully solve with this version (which, he says, will be revisited with OOTP7) is the AI usage of 33-36 year-olds over 23-26 year-olds with slightly-lower ratings in the starting lineup. There are far fewer of those annoying guys who show up in the lineup for the first time at age 31 and up, though, and even the 23-26-year-old issue has definitely improved. I personally would like to see a few more 40-year-olds productive than there are, but that's pretty minor in the big scheme of things.
As you also may have noticed already from the league I uploaded, batting stats have been reduced a good bit from 6.12, which is a good thing imho.

I think it's improved (I know this got a lot of attention in testing), but I still don't think it's where everyone would like it to be, nor do I think we're really close to that. there are just SO many variables that come into play here that it must be a gargantuan task to get right. lots of steps in the right direction (the new team focus feature, for example), but I still will keep waivers off in my solo league

when 6 came out, I HATED the way waivers and such was handled, so I just got into the habit of not using them. to me, you get more competitive team AIs with it off, so (outside of testing) I've kept them off.

we got to see a bit into the logic behind the AI moves in testing. Without divulging stuff that I can't, I think the area that needs to be fine-tuned the most is the way that the AI evaluates talent. As that gets better in future iterations of the game, I think the trading (and, honestly, probably a lot of the waiver moves and stuff) will improve.

Again, I don't think he's ignoring you, I think he's just said "waivers don't occur as much" in this iteration of the program. Beyond that, I doubt he has much more information this early in the ball game.

You mean $10? What's the issue.. email them and they'll get back to you. I never understand how people have so many issues with Viatech? They've been beyond great when I've used them for license emails. Now I keep a folder in Outlook called, LICENSES just for this reason. Give them some time to get back to you Rago... Todd |

Actually, I wrote to them over a month ago asking about a TCY license that I had on my now dead hard drive. Never heard back from them. Even followed that up with a "Anyone care to respond to this attached message?" and still have heard nothing. Fortunately, I found another license I purchased earlier, therefore there's no urgency. Admittedly, if I didn't find the license, I'd probably be writing/calling every 15 mins but haven't done so. Still, it's odd that I have received absolutely no response. Bottom line is - I'm sure if I was a squeaky wheel, I'd get what I ask for. Ragone needs to be squeakier ![]()

I will be waiting for reviews before i even think about buying this one.. I have no trust in these guys after all the stuff that happened in the last release..
Im hoping this is worth the $10, and not simply a ploy to generate some quick revenue untill the next version is out. Last edited by valhalla : 06-14-2005 at 06:54 PM. |

I bought it, and my opinion on waivers is that I still see too many really good prospects being left on waivers and lost. The A's put Huston Street on waivers and I got him when they never pulled him back. The AI does pull back players, but there are still too many 3 star and up prospects changing hands, especially relievers. Also, prospects who are out of options haven't made any appearances so far. Many times in prior versions, 4-5 star prospects that were out of options would be placed on irrevocable waivers and lost. Haven't seen that yet, but I haven't gotten very far along in a season
EDIT: Another thing that does not appear to have been fixed is the tendency of AI teams to convert starting pitchers to middle relievers and then putting them through waivers. Great way to build a young and cheap pitching staff however. Has that ever been reported to Markus?

Having a blast so far, but I can't believe none of the beta testers notice that minor league OPS and OBP aren't displaying properly, either in-game or in the HTML player report.

actually, this beta tester did notice it. but notice that the OBP numbers are only screwed up for previous years - stuff simmed in the game works fine. I think this is a product of the creation of the roster set, related to the career/last-season stats being off kilter. the roster creation tools are not very good...

jbmagic - reported it there before I did so here.
DD - I'm not using anybody's custom roster. This is the roster set the game generated when I created the league. Is it the default roster creation tools you're referring to, or...? |
