Thumbs up Skype

Ok guys, for my 100th post I will finally tell you something useful.

http://www.skype.com/

I did a search on the board about this a while ago, didn't have any result.
So, this is a web-based (I think is called VoIP technology) phone service that is completely FREE from pc to pc. Basically, with earphones and a mic connected to the pc, you can talk to another Skype user an unlimited amount of time.
It has also an IM client that is very good, similar to the Yahoo one.
Also, you can purchase Skype credit from the site and call whoever you want in the world, cell phones and ordinary phones. For these kinds of calls, the cost is extremely low: a little more than 1 $, for hour!!!
I'm using the pc-to-pc thing for a month now (talking with Tara) and it works great. The quality is very high, really incredible. And it's completely free. I'm also thinking of purchase like 10 Euros of credit, to make my grandma callin' her cousin in Australia.
I think, but I'm not sure, it was created by Kazaa's authors.
I'd say you guys should try this, it's a really good service, especially for someone who spend a good amount of time on the pc.

I have used this for quite a while now. I use it a lot to talk with my friends and co-workers in Europe. In the beginning the quailty of the calls was hit or miss, but as of late, they have almost always been good quality.

I can confirm. That's service is amazing. Moreover, to make the thing just more similar to a real telephone call you can buy devices such as USB telephone. Really in the US you never heard about that?

I just bought two logitech webcams today and downloaded Skype. This is some really great stuff. I can't believe that it's free.

I'm going away for a couple weeks in early February so I'll be webcam'ing with the family while I'm gone. The video is really amazing since I've been on 2x128k VTCs that have looked worse.
