Questions re programs

Just joined the FOFC fed yesterday and thought I'd take advantage of the expertise of some of you more skilled managers. Here's my question: as a supporter, you have access to an extensive list of available programs. Which programs do you recommend? Are there any programs you have found particularly useful?

Thanks in advance.

I like Hattrick Buddy. I got suckered into it when it was still free, though... if I had been choosing between paid programs, I might well have picked HAM.

As far as being supporter and programs for supporters only, I'm not sure there are any "supporter only" programs.

In terms of useful features of supporter, I wholeheartedly recommend using bookmarks to your advantage. They are without a doubt lifesavers, in terms of keeping track of players on the TL and being able to get back to them quickly. Usually I use the note feature on the bookmark to record what the player's main stats are, so I can quickly reference it when it comes close to the time for the sale.

If you use Firefox, I also 100% recommend FoxTrick, a Firefox extension for HT that adds some useful links to the interface, and helps make it prettier. You can find it here. I also recommend using the HT Ratings Translator extension, available here. In case you've never seen these, a screenshot with the ratings translator in use can be found here, while FoxTrick in use on my main team page can be found here.

As for add-on programs, I use HAM, having paid for it when I started HT a couple years ago. I'm also looking at the HT Ratings tool, which some people swear by, but I haven't used much yet. It's free (as far as I know), but I haven't had a chance to play with it. It's for working with lineups. Then again, I and a few others here swear by Excel. Excel is a wondeful program.

Hope that helps!

I wouldn't think you would need this unless you've gotten used to the old ratings. I pretty much exclusively live on the new ones now, with only an occasional foray back to old ratings just so that I can gape at the outragous ratings I can occasionally put up.

Fair enough. I like to use it for just that reason--I'm comfortable with the new ratings, but I like the ego boost of the old

Thanks for the links TK -- I've been meaning to get these ever since I switched to Firefox, and had just never gotten around to it. I really like some of the changes!

I'll add my voice for HAM, and add that Loke got me for life by making his program easier to use for me when I requested he do so. Of course, those changes got added for everyone, but when someone responds to an email you send and say "I'll add that to the next release" and then sends you another email a day later asking "Have you tried the new version yet? I added the stuff that'd help" I'm a fan for life. Ya know what I mean? It's just so rare nowadays that people writing programs will actually accomadate someone with a certain need.

I agree about Loke. He is always willing to listen to suggestions and is extremely friendly.

Plus he doesnt charge you more money for new big features. I purchased the app like 2 years ago and it has grown pretty big with some big features. All the updates have been free. If only Microsoft, Norton, McAfee, Roxio, etc, etc, etc would take a lesson from him

yeah, loke_'s pretty amazing from a support perspective.. I belive it was roughly $7 for lifetime registration for HAM...

a very good use of $7, imo...

the lineup tool, on the other hand, you have to play with to get correct, though.

That reminds me- I should bump the HAM ratings thread since I've talked to a couple of people over AIM over the past month and we were trying to get them to work decently.
