Who is the best team in America in 1902?
The 1902 season has been completed in my replay dynasty, found here .
Unlike prior years, I am restricting the choice to just two teams, Yale and Michigan, who seem to have separated themselves from the remaining teams. Here are the resumés of each team: Code:
The poll will run from now until Monday. |

As much as I hate, hate, hate Yale, being devoted to Princeton as I am... I gotta go with the bloody Bulldogs here.

Yale was just way too dominating against a more consistently stronger schedule.

Bumping for anyone else who might show the teeniest, tiniest interest in weighing in. There are currently 7 votes in right now. Would like to see it get to 10, if only to feel a little validation for all my efforts.

Gotta go with the Wolverines, Yale had a tremendous Defense but I can't see them shutting down Fielding Yosts famed point-a-minute offense of that time period.

The poll is now closed and Yale claims its second title in three replay years by a 6-2 margin. Thanks, everyone, for participating in what will apparently be the last time you guys have a say in this.
I'm kicking around an idea though where you may still get some participation. I have a rating system that I've used for ACC basketball that I'll likely be using for rating teams for championships starting with 1903. It essentially uses three components: record of opponent, margin of victory, and location. I can mix-and-match these three to produce six variants. I could say that each rating gets one vote and the winner is the one with the most. However, should there be a tie, I can turn it over to you guys to be the ultimate arbiter. I don't think it'd happen that often, but it would at least occasionally allow you to settle debates, if you will. Sound good? |
