Vitrectomy - To All those who have had one

No, this isn't a play on the vasectomy thread. Well, sort of

I've had eye floaters and flashes as a result of a partial PVD (Posterior Vitreous Detachment - http://www.goodhope.org.uk/departments/eyedept/pvd.htm) for about a year and a half. They've caused depression, anxiety attacks, hurt computer productivity at work, harmed my ability to read without getting mad and upset, and consume my attention while driving.

Here was the best explanation of a vitrectomy I could find that includes a photo: http://www.eyefic.com/vitrec.htm

Needless to say, it does not look like a fun procedure. But as some new, smaller tools have become available in the past few year, you no longer need stitches and, barring unforeseen problems, you leave the same day. I've been reading more and more positive outcome stories, but am still hesitant to let anyone suck out the innards of my eyes Anyone gone through surgery recently?

Wow, man, I totally have had that happen to me too. I never thought the floaters may have been a cause for my panic attacks. But I've seen those little things since I was like 10, but they've become a little more prominent of late, but it may just be because I've focused more on a computer screen of late. Yeah, definitely don't want that procedure though.
