Rob Halford
From the out-of-left-field file, every so often I'll catch a classic Judas Priest video on VH1 classic, as I just did ('Heading Out to the Highway'), and I think Rob could hardly have ever been categorized as 'closeted', except to those without a pair of working eyes. Major props to him for not giving a rip.
With that said, 'Hot Rocking' may be the most hysterical video ever made. |

Out of context, you're right. However, given that nearly every other headbanger in the 80's wore something similar (or worse), he really didn't look all that out of place. Hell, Poison disguised themselves as women on their first album cover. Blackie Lawless looked more ridiculous than Rob, and he had a fire-shooting cod piece. I'm starting to think that the 80's metal movement is what today's metrosexual movement was back then. Except more in a Mr. Garrison's slave kinda way, rather than white collar, well-dressed man kinda way.

On a related note, Freddie Mercury. How'd that one slip by people?

Actually, the leather had very little to do with my observation....his incredible dancing skillz were what caught my eye in particular. However, I can't deny that Poison really took it to a new level, and we're talking about C.C. 'Pussyman' DeVille here! |

Speaking of CC< I just read this on another board:
"i had a friend who got to hang out with stephen pearcy for a few hours a couple of weeks ago and they were talking about other bands and such and pearcy tells my friend that cc deviile has done so many drugs that he can no longer control his bowels and has to wear a "depends" while on stage. could this be true?"

I've heard that before. I think it was Dee Snyder on one of those VH1 shows who mentioned it. |
