Markus has always struck me as the whiniest bitch in the text-sim genre, so I can't say this was exactly a shocking thread to see.

agreed. the two of them are both classy guys, and I think Markus was just pointing out that press releases have a tendency to be "sensationalistic" (if that's even a word, sorry my brain is fried right now). If you notice, Shaun posted quickly after Markus's initial post and then Markus fired back a clarification. Let's not make a mountain out of a molehill, it's apparent these two have no bad blood, and I think there is more than enough room in the market for 2 text sims in any sport.

That's exactly how I saw it too.

Anyone else remember when .400 (Stallings) released a similar PR when TPF came out (and compared to FOF, and Jim's reaction)?

Yeah it was no big deal.

And I do find it funny Skydog takes advantage of every chance he can to insult JBmagic. If I knew why it probably would lose some of its humour.

i really want to know too.

i never done anything to him. and for him to hate me so much is very confusing.

i really look up to skydog when my interest was for a sports sim game. i read his post for ootp and FOF and that made my interest to buy the game.

so it really bothers me that he hates mes so much and always insulted me.

people post worse things here, and he never insults them.

Only thing I found not right about is that, really, Markus shouldn't have said anything at all, but "Congrats, Shaun" and moved on.

I mean, did he really have to say anything? I realize they are direct competitors, but the classy move would have been to not point out something like that (and especially when your own publishing team has done much the same sort of thing int he past and will in the future as well).

Except that I don't think you will find a PR about OOTP7 on the Matrix forum.

Matt, good to see you again, you doing well?

Markus is pretty cool actually ... I've been working with him for a while now and can safely say that I haven't heard any whining from him at all ...

I do think he finds the PR side of the industry somewhat bemusing at times though (which is what I think he was trying to get across in his post) .....

Every game ever released will always claim to the the best thing since sliced bread, simply because it'd be commercial suicide to indicate otherwise ... the only people who can really indicate this sort of thing imho isn't the publishers/PR people but the people who play the games themselves.

While I am sure that's true, I was just talking about Markus's response there, not the overall PR approach of the support communities of the games. For what it's worth, I still have never played PS (can't stand that it doesn't have full minors, or at least not last I checked), and have owned every OOTP since OOTP@, despite my objections at points to the game design.

I am doing well. Working a lot. Obviously can't hang out online as much as I like. How are you doing, Steve?

Matt

Isn't this something really petty to be arguing about?

I mean y'all that are having your mini-pissing contests in this thread are making this shit out to be bigger than what it is.

What's the matter? Mr. Happy decide to take the day off or something? Dr. V can help you out. Just ask any aging major league baseball player who got busted for 'roids.
