How far did they go in terms of updating the rules and rosters?

I would expect that most, if not all of the new rules would be implemented. Most of them have been known for a while thanks to the AHL, so the game will have been coded with that in mind.

If you go to the NHL page there is a series of videos showing the new rules in NHL 06.

I heard they weren't implementing the new rules at all.

I've heard some new on ice rules, but no salary cap.

According to the most recent preview I have seen, the larger offensive zone has been included in the game, and in the demo it is obvious that the goalie rules have also been added.

I think that all of the new gameplay rules should have made it into the game because most were an open secret for the last year or two.

I think it is more likely that the financial rules will not be included in the dynasty mode.

I must be getting old. I downloaded it (the last EA Sports title I played was in '99) and expected to be impressed. Clearly, this is not my kind of game although I'm sure it outsells EHM by a mile.

Thank God for EHM though.
