follow this link, you can put in the state and style you are looking for

http://www.ratebeer.com/Search.asp

you dont have to be a member of Ratebeer to use the search, although if you like good beers, i highly recommend joining (which is free)..i have been on for almost a year and my ratings count is over 600, and i have over 200 different kinds of beer in my basement right now. (my username on the site is richlikebeer). if you have any questions about it, lemme know.

I can't help but notice that Il Vicino's embarrasing watery ipa got high marks, throwing serious suspicion on the rest of the ratings.

I am grateful for the resource, though - this gives me a starting point.

I think drinking an IPA is a bit like ingesting liquid poo.

Different strokes for different folks.

Blasphemer. I think they're awesome.

Do you get Red Hook products? Their IPA is very good. If Rogue stuff is available their's rocks as well.

I always found Sierra Nevada's IPA to be good stuff. I'd hope you could get it in the Southwest with a name like "Sierra Nevada"

I would think you should be able to find Full Sail distributed in the SW, and I rate their IPA pretty high.

Seriously, what else is there to do in Easton? You can only visit the Larry Holmes Museum so many times.

(I did meet some really cute twins from nearby Phillipsburg vacationing in the Poconos one summer though, when I was around 13 or so. I think they both liked me, they asked me to take a walk with them down by a nearby stream, but I was incredibly dense and stupid and resisted....)

sierra nevada pale ale, SNPA, is not an IPA. its an american pale ale, which usually has a much lower bitterness profile than a traditional ipa. SNPA is a fantastic beer if you want to get accustomed to that style....definitely cant go wrong with that beer.

alot of the RB ratings are in the mid 3 out of 5 range, which is good, but not great. anything above a 3 i would be happy to try, below that and you risk venturing into swill territory. you should note that there are 2 versions of this beer, one that is available at the brewery/pizza place (which seemed to rate higher) and one that is contract brewed (3rd party brewer that puts the Il Vicino label on the bottle). depending on which one you have had, that may be why you dont like it.

While I agree with you that their Pale Ale is a great beer, Sierra Nevada does indeed brew an IPA (or at least they used to).

yes they still do, but it isnt nearly as widely distributed as the SNPA...there have only been 147 ratings of it, alot of which are tap ratings, where as the SNPA bottle version has over 1100 ratings...thats why i assumed the reference above was to the SNPA
