Keepers - What would you do?

Ok, I just sold a IM trainee and almost have about $2.85M in the bank. I'm wanting to upgrade my keeper position and am trying to pick between an Outstanding and Brilliant. (I'm in Div V btw)

As far as I can tell, I can get an Oustanding keeper for about $2M and a Brilliant keeper runs about $3M. If I use the $200,000 that you go into debt with I think I could luck out and buy a Brilliant, but my question is would going that one extra step up be worth the extra million?

Another plan would be to get an Outstanding keeper and then use the rest for a sorely needed stadium upgrade.

And another option would be to buy a more experienced Outstanding to make up a little of the difference between Outstanding and Brilliant.

Thoughts?

Hmmm. How close to promoting out of V are you?

I suppose, all things equal, in your situation I'd get the outstanding (preferably with experience if I coud) and use other money to improve your stadium.

The improved stadium will help you get some more money, and when you promote (if it's not going to be next season), you can upgrade GK's if you like. My guy is a brilliant and gets about 5-6 stars, depending on form. I think he has poor experience or so.

Yeah- sounds like 23K is a bit small for someone possibly promoting out of V. I'd imagine you've got between 1200 and 1500 fans so you definitely need to expand that stadium so you can get more cash each week. Using the 30X rule of thumb for a team doing well, soon to promote, and splitting the difference, using 1350 fans, you need a stadium around 40K or at least 35Kish.

I agree with TK, at that level you are better off spending the money in other areas. I am at div III, and my mag keeper is still suitable. An outstanding keeper should be good enough, and the other money will be better spent.

SI is right on as well.

Yeah I'm actually at 1612 fans, but last year I was having problems selling out. I would have attendances of 22+. So I'd come real close but not quite sell out.

In the first week this season, I played one of the lower teams in the division and sold out, so I think I'm going to take TK's advice and shoot for a Outstanding and then go for a stadium expansion as well.
