Maybe I'm just optimistic, but isn't it far better that this happened now as opposed to next September?

If it had to happen, this would seem to be the time and place for it to happen. The area was already flooded from the previous breaks, and it's already evacuated.

Exactly. And maybe now the mayor will be a little more careful about his strategy for bringing people back in.

Great song. Great drum sound.

When The Levee Breaks
(Bonham/Jones/Page/Plant/Memphis Minnie)

If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break, (X2)
When The Levee Breaks I'll have no place to stay.

Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan, (X2)
Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home,
Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well.

Don't it make you feel bad
When you're tryin' to find your way home,
You don't know which way to go?
If you're goin' down South
They go no work to do,
If you don't know about Chicago.

Cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
Now, cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move.

All last night sat on the levee and moaned, (X2)
Thinkin' about me baby and my happy home.
Going, going to Chicago... Going to Chicago... Sorry but I can't take you...
Going down... going down now... going down....

I blame the President. He made the hurricane move slightly north to avoid a direct hit on his home state of Texas.

Cool story about those drum tracks in that song...

Andy Johns (engineer) and Jimmy Page had John Bonham set the drums up in a stairwell. They hung microphones at the top of the stairs, above the kit. The result (coupled with Bonham's awesome playing) was a classic drum sound that people still try to emulate today.

I don't care how cute gizmo is, I'm gonna put a cap in his ass so this stops happening.

Blanco was elected after a very successful stint as Lt. Governor. The main duty of the Lt. Gov in Louisiana, besides standby gov., is that he/she is in charge of tourism. Blanco did an excellent job with tourism as Lt Gov. For years Louisiana was the only state I would see use banner ads to advertise the state on the internet, for example.
