Job search ideas?

Anyone have some advice on the best way to find a new job? I'm just looking for new ideas to continue my search. Any advice would be appreciated.

Knowing nothing about your field or what you have done so far, I will point out the general maxim--it's not what you know; it's who you know. Talk to any and everyone you may know who can get you a lead into some place.

Yeah, got that one. I'm up on a couple of jobs from direct references, but I'm really looking for the best way to get new leads. I would specify a job field if I had one.

May I suggest the law. The world never seems to have enough lawyers.

That's a good idea. I'll just skip law school and just take the Bar directly. It isn't hard, is it?

Try professional organizations, if you haven't already. They usually have job boards.

One site that has grown a lot is LinkedIn (http://www.linkedin.com) they actually have a jobs section in there, and who knows....someone you may know might have a small insight to one of the positions.

I think the Commonwealth of Virginia still lets you read for the bar (a fancy way of saying "take the bar without going to law school").

Thanks. I'm on that. I actually put in for a couple jobs on there this morning when I started this thread.
