Can anyone answer this NFL trivia question?

(I don't know the answer)

What is the longest 4th down conversion in NFL history?

Some friends and I were wondering about this the other day, and I can't seem to find an answer. Off the top of my head the longest I can think of was the 4th and 26 by Philly in the playoffs a couple years ago.

Surely there's been a 4th down Hail Mary, which would technically qualify, right?

yeah, you would have to think so. Was that crazy Saints lateral play against the jaguars a few years ago on 4th down?

edit: might not matter. how often is a team put in a situation where it is 4th and 26+ ?

All I can find is college stuff. Hell, even 4th and 26 stuff says "believed to be the longest playoff 4th down coversion."

Yeah, my boss at the time was a Saints fan. We kept bringing that up for about 3 months, just cause it was so damn funny.

Every article you can find mentions it being the longest conversion in playoff history, which seems to imply that there was a longer one in the regular season (or that nobody can find the answer).

What about that Vikings/Cardinals game that the Vikings lost in the last game of the 2003 season, costing them the playoffs? Didn't McCown have a 4th-and-20-something with 4 seconds left and somehow the Vikings gave up a TD pass? If that wasn't 4th-and-26, then it was 4th-and-25.

The Cardinals effed that up pretty good. Everyone knew they had a hard on for Fitz, likely they could have traded for whomever wanted Eli, still got a top 5 pick, and still got Fitz and more picks. But, no, they had to catch that stupid pass.

It was McCown who knocked Green’s former team out of the playoffs last year with a “Hail Mary” pass on the last play of the game in week 17, a fourth down and 25 yards play; the second longest fourth down conversion of the 2003 season.

It's obviously longer than 4th-and-25.

dola -

I just realized that the above quote is probably referring to the Eagles/Packers conversion as the #1 from that season.
