I actually bought a version of this way back in the day, it was very well done. May check this out if I have time, but I'm having alot of fun with the TEW demo and FOF right now.

ok question, why does the new game have a different name? Isn't it just the new version of JSB? Or no?

Nice game with all the features you'd expect, but I have to question whether the engine is solid. Fired it up and simmed a season, and with very little tweaking my horrible Bobcats team made the second round of the playoffs, rolling over the Pistons in the first round. Sonics made the finals losing to the Pacers and the Spurs weren't even anywhere near the playoffs. This is with the 2004 rosters that come with the game and the players look realistically rated.

Eck... just noticed LeBron (my scouts rate him best player in the league) was traded to the Lakers for a first round pick and Devean George while Cleveland was first in the conference. I had turned CPU trading on, guess it will have to be turned off again.

Anyhow, really want to give this a chance as I need a filler until FM2006 and Bowl Bound are released. Will play about with it more in the morning.

I downloaded it, and ran an initial draft. I know precious little about basketball strategy, I just tried to select decent players. After the draft, I felt like I had done a poor job. My staff stunk. I prepared for the worst.

We went 69-15, with the best record in the conference, and probably only lost in the conference finals due to the fact that both our point guards were out hurt, forcing us (my stiff staff, making auto-decisions) to insert all manner of bums there.

From here, I don't know quite what to expect. If I already have one of the best teams (with practically no effort or expertise) - what am I building toward?

Yeah, didn't strike me as the most amazing engine either, did a quick trade for Iverson to the heat (E.Jones/D.Jones and a 1st rounder for Iverson and Snow? I think it was).. Started off 4W 21L with D. Wade, Shaq and Iverson, not that I expected to be undefeated but I figured we'd manage more than 4 wins.

Sounds like the experience my brother had with FOF (2k1 I believe).. Selected his favorite team, Detroit Lions, went something like 11 and 5, won the SB and then never played again.

Been playing this a lot, tweaking scoring a bit towards the lower end... checking out the players. I've played a 10-year season since 1988... loading historical draft files but generating random Career Projection Ratings for the players. Pretty fun. The usual players are still pretty much dominanct, but by randomizing the Career Proj. Ratings, they either burn out... get worse or get better.

Shaq is still Shaq in my league, but Zo is better. Sean Rooks has emerged to be a powerhouse, and Todd Day is the best SG in the NBA in 1998.

There are some qirks in the engine, but it's pretty stable, and it really depends on a lot of factors... your bench, injuries, a player's mood... etc. etc.

How come when I draft a player he only gets worse? I've never seen a player get noticably better.

I would have posted this in the JSB forum, but it doesn't work for me. Can anyone else get in?

Also, I can't seem to get to the CourtsideChallenge website. Can anyone else?

It's a shame, cause Jumpshot was good for awhile.
