Thumbs up I just made the biggest steal in fantasy football

David Carr and Chris Cooley for Daunte Culpepper.

BAM.

the other guy had to do it cuz Culpepper has a bye, and his backup is Manning (also has a bye). his TE is Jeremy Shockey (bye) and his backup is injured for the year i think. the only way this trade will be accepted by the commish (this is a money league and we're all friends, no strangers) is cuz the other guy *had* to make a trade or else he would have got like 35 pts this week. he had Tomlinson who i was trying to get, but i guess he wasn't that desperate. this one is better, anyway, to get LT i'd have had to give up Carr, Moss and either Cadillac Williams or Jamal Lewis. this trade i did got me my new starting QB after this week for my 2 backups. i love it.

I wouldn't trade Daunte away (I have him in 2 of my leagues including a money league), but I think it is a big exageration to say this is the greatest trade ever. Daunte has had a rough first quarter of the season, and there is no clear indication that he is going to perform better the next 3 quarters of the year.

Oh yeah, for a guy to draft two QB's with the same bye week in a money league is very dumb.

I wouldn't let this trade go through in my league. The guy with the bye week problems would just have to lose this week. Losing this week is better than throwing the balance of the league out of whack.

since we're all friends, we all have faith that none of us will be a scumbag. no one wants to get blacklisted, if this was just a non-money league *maybe* it could happen, but there's too much money at stake for us to allow anyone that we think would try to ruin the integrity. the guy i traded with is in contention so far, as am i, so he had a lot to lose, a lot, by just giving up with week and taking the loss without a starting QB and no TE. he has LT and Ahman Green, who is questionable and might not play, so he would have thrown himself out of contention this one week. he's only 80something points out of first, so it's not like he's throwing in the towel. there's about 6 of us who are all 80 something pts out of first, so too much is at stake to throw away one week. i understand he was in a corner, but surely he could have thought of something better to do that would have benefitted him long term. as it stands he pretty much cut off his arm to save his hand. not that i care.

this is a dog eat dog league, no trade has ever been overturned (our commish is a fantasy guru and has raped so many of us over the years that trading is pretty much nonexistent cuz we completely go off on the guy who gets raped, everyone is scared to make a stupid trade in our league to the point where it's not as much fun as it used to be due to the lack of trading). our thinking is if you put the time in to make a huge steal and can actually pull it off you shouldn't be penalized for being a superior fantasy GM. we don't help out the weak GMs by watching out for them...don't want to get raped - do your fantasy homework.

in his defense, he also had Chad Pennington. the joke at draft day was "one of these NY QBs had to have a good year".

we don't do a regular draft - we have an auction draft. this is why i came away with Marvin Harrison and Randy Moss, which is virtually impossible to do in a normal draft.

also, we don't have weekly add/drops. we only have a 3 round Supplemental draft we hold during week 8. if you draft badly or your players get hurt early on, you're pretty much screwed until week 8 unless you can trade your way out.

i don't have the foggiest idea of what you're trying to say.

in any event, this trade didn't fit under my cap (i was already at $100, Culpepper cost $25 and we have a $120 max), so i had to release Rattay, Labrandon Toefield, Dominic Rhodes and Charles Rogers (all cost like $1.50 or less) in order to have enough room to make it go through. the other guy accepted the trade, the commish is just dragging his heals approving it (he really doesn't have any choice, no trade in our leagues have ever been overturned).

anyway, even if you add up the 4 guys i had to release - and if i had to play any of those guys i'd be in trouble anyway - i still come out way ahead. it was a great trade on my part, and one that will pay dividends once Culpepper plays again in week 6.

Daunte said he can't wait to start playing for me. he told me he's gonna run in two TD's all by himself and pass about 3 more in next week's game.

i can dominate an entire classroom full of 5 year olds in fantasy football.

more, if you put on a strobe light and jungle music.

At this point in the season, I can't say that Culpepper has done that much more than Carr. He may have more weapons, but you never know when he has another cruise booked on the Love Boat. I think Cooley is going to continue to get cathes with the current emphasis on passing in Washington.

Interesting...I just realized that Yahoo uses a can't cut list, and he's on it. I would be pissed if a guy I wanted to cut (legitly, not for collusion purposes) was stuck on my roster.

Daunte is killing me in the FOFC league, and is hurting me in my money league (least I have Bledsoe as a backup in that league (well actually starter for the last two weeks.)

My team this week consisted of a starting lineup of Hasselbeck, S. Alexander, McGahee, S. Moss, S. Smith, J. Shockey...

Needless to say I had a good week....

Culpepper injures right knee in blowout loss

And that pretty much wraps this "steal" up.

Any time you trade for a QB who has passed his previous season's INT total in week 6 and call it a steal you need your head examined. I'd love to be in a money league with you...Culpepper is ass, welcome to life without Moss.

Hell Atlantic gets
·Davis, Stephen RB CAR
·Johnson, Andre WR HOU
·Palmer, Carson QB CIN

for

Team B
·Culpepper, Daunte QB MIN
·Moss, Randy WR OAK

STEEEEEEEEEEAL. this one is even bigger, since Carson Palmer is the top QB in my league points-wise and Stephen Davis only knows how to score td's. he was a throw-in, in my book, meant only for depth. he's now my starting RB as i benched Jamal Lewis.

don't hate me cuz you ain't me.

i jsut bet the last place team that his team won't finish ahead of mine. 3 to 1 odds, i get $50, he gets $150 if he wins. i'm in 7th place. here are our teams:

Hell Atlantic's team:
Delhomme, Jake QB CAR*
Davis, Stephen RB CAR*
Lewis, Jamal RB BAL*
Harrison, Marvin WR IND*
Moss, Santana WR WAS*
McMichael, Randy TE MIA*
Tynes, Lawrence K KC*
Lions, DST DST DET*

Other team:
Green, Trent QB KC*
Jackson, Steven RB STL*
Jones, Julius RB DAL*
Porter, Jerry WR OAK*
Smith, Rod WR DEN
Clark, Dallas TE IND*
Brown, Josh K SEA*
Panthers, DST DST CAR*

keep in mind, Carson Palmer, Rudi Johnson and Bengals D are on bye. they are my normal starters. my backup D- Detroit - is playing the Cardinals this week. ROCK AND ROLL. in my league the last place team gets named by the first place team in the following season, so there's incentive to not come in last. at first i was just happy that i wasn't gonna come in last cuz i certainly aren't gonna come in 1st, but at least now i get to make $50 this season.
