Hoping the Angels, but knowing in my heart it will be the Yankees. And already getting pissed about it.

hopefully the angels win, so this damn dynasty can officially be over with, and the yankees will have a $200million piece of crap team on their hands with like 15 players over the age of 30 and no farm system.

As a White Sox fan, I'm torn. I want the Angels to win because I can't stand the thought of having to hear Buck and McCarver fellate the Yankees endlessly. But I want the Yankees to win because, in my opinion, the White Sox match up better with the Yankees and have a better chance of beating them. But I want the Angels to win because the thought of wanting the Yankees to win makes me physically ill. But I want the Yankees to win because that way, if the Sox lose the ALCS, I can say, "Well, hey, it was the Yankees." But I want the Angels to win because that way, if the Sox lose the ALCS, it was to a team other than the damn Yankees.

So in the end, I'm rooting for a really long game that leaves its winning participant so spent that the Sox can take games 1 and 2 at home.

The White Sox win tonight, because the winner has to fly to Chicago tonight and play tomorrow with not even a days rest. White Sox need to take advantage of this little extra bit of help by the scheduling of this crap.

This almost brought a tear to my eye. I really couldn't have said it better myself. As a life-long A's fan, I guess its the lesser of two evils here, and eventhough I hate to say it, Go Halos!

I'd say about the only people safe on the Yankees right now are Jeter and Cano. Otherwise, Georgie has bullseyes on the asses of everyone else.

Eh... I think A-Rod is pretty safe. No one else is going to take him on and George won't cut him.

Now, who do I root for in the ALCS? The White Sox would seem to be the logical choice, especially on the heels of what the Red Sox did last year, but the difference is, the Red Sox had a long, tortured record of post-season failures. The White Sox haven't won for decades, but they've just plain sucked. It feels different, and I don't know if I feel compelled to root for them out of the same sense of sympathy that I felt for the Red Sox. It's like rooting for the LA Clippers or Seattle Seahawks or something.

Returning Yankees:

Arod
Jeter
Randy Johnson (no team can afford to take on a 54 year old SP making $100million a year)
Cano (to the bench)
Giambi (no team can afford to take on a 30 something farce making $50million a year who's half as good when he's not on the juice)

Well, I don't mean I think he's going to trash the entire team, but ARod and some others are certainly going to have an uncomfortable off-season. They're stuck with a few of these guys for at least another year or two, right? Mussina, Johnson, Posada, Sheffield, Giambi, and of course Wright and Pavano. Either they've got to have a fire sale and decide to completely start over, or they stick with pretty much the same team, revamp the outfield, and pray Wright, Pavano, Johnson and Mussina can make it one more year.

the thing is - they won't ever win as long as Mussina and Arod are on the team.

they haven't won a WS since Mussina has been on the team. he's not a good pitcher. very unreliable. Arod is not a winner. he's the Patrick Ewing of baseball - great individual stats, horrible luck when it comes to winning.

You know who I really feel for? Tim McCarver. Whose butt's left for him to kiss now?

That collective groan you just heard was the national sports media groaning and reaching for their media guides--they didn't think they would have to prepare for a (White)Sox-Halos series.

Mussina is one of those guys whose career looks good, but he's never lived up to expectations. He's going to be a test case for this generation for the Hall of Fame. He could easily win between 250-275 games, and yet have never really had a truly dominant season. Maybe the closest he's come is his first full season.

Fuck the ratings. I want a world series champ I can feel good about. Any one of the remaining 4 teams is OK with me.

Granted I'm an Angels fan, but I would love to see them win with small ball. I can't stand the current state of baseball which is get a man on, and wait for the HR. I loved watching the Angels move runners over, and then sacrifice or hit them in.

Well Moose has a career ERA+ of 125 so far, which is pretty good. That is better than Juan Marichal's, for one.

I enjoy small ball too. That's how the Yankee teams of the late nineties won, with small ball. But, you should feel glad that the Angels can win any way they need too.

What particularly impressed me was that the Angels took advantage of the Yankee mistakes. A lot of teams don't seem to do that (in general) and they didn't take a lead for granted. They are a good team, and don't get enough coverage since they are on the West Coast.
