The movie you absolutely, positively, CANNOT miss
I forgot to post about this when it opened (and im not entirely sure its open nationwide yet, though i think it is)...
Everyone RUN to see "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang". It's a film noir comedy written and directed by Shane Black (the guy who wrote Lethal Weapon, Last Boy Scout, and...okay, yes, Last Action Hero). But it's unbelievably funny, fresh, fast paced, and well acted. Then again, I love Robert Downey Jr, so I was hoping to like it anyway. Oh, and Val Kilmer...in a comedy...for the first time since, what, Top Secret? Anyway, the film isn't getting the publicity it deserves, and I know there are some intelligent people on this board who look for more intelligent movies. Well, this is it. Trust me. (I know this comes off over the top, but sometimes you gotta do that to get the people to see it...) Last edited by Pyser : 11-08-2005 at 05:32 AM. |

For what it's worth, I've heard similarly good things about this film, although I haven't seen it as yet.

Totally agree mate. I've seen it (and recommended on the Last Movie thread). Brilliant film, hiliarious and takes shots at quite a few Hollywood staples which makes the twists and turns a little unpredictable. Can't recommend it enough. Cheers, kiwiDE57

bump to help out
Took the wife to see this today, and I enjoyed it. More proof that when Robert Downey, Jr puts his mind to it, he can be quite a productive actor. I don't know if I would say this movie is "unbelievably funny", but it had it's moments. I can sum up my feelings for this movie in one word; refreshing. It's a nice honest piece of film-making and a nice break from that crud that is passing for movies these days. If you are thinking about going to a movie this holiday weekend, give this one a shot. |

Ah forgot about this thread - rented it last weekend and loved it. Reminded me of Zero Effect, another off-beat noirish movie that I loved.
One of the first times I actually see what people mean when they say Robert Downey Jr. has talent as well. And that Monaghan chick is gorgeous. |

Yawn. Two snaps down. Girlfriend meter: she fell asleep after a half an hour. Could have shaved an hour off and still gotten the point across. Val Kilmer's character was interesting though.
