Civilization 4, hands down.
Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed a lot of games this year. Half Life 2. FM 2006. Madden, God of War and some other great console games. Nothing comes close to CivIV IMO. Not only is this the clear cut game of the year, this is close to drawing a spot in my top five games of all time. |

I think you should wait and see what Madden 2006 on the 360 plays like.
The Ads look unbelievable. |

I bought all but FM2006.
Have only had time to play EHM2005 and Civ IV. I love EHM2005. I played it almost non-stop for a good 10 months. Loved it. It was everything I hoped it would be. A football manager game, but with hockey instead of soccer. For me, it's the game of the year. But that's a completely subjective view. I would have to say Civ IV probably wins game of the year objectively speaking.

So far, for me it's F.E.A.R. |

A game that was built just for the 360 that will stop you in your tracks and have you say "WOW". Or, have you questioning if you are actually watching gameplay or some built in premaid "Movie" highlight. Last edited by WrongWay : 11-15-2005 at 11:27 PM. |

The ads do look awesome but they are taking out a lot of interesting features...regardless of the console enhancements (better graphics, etc..) the game itself is taking a step back.

Civ 4 for me, though I recently bought F.E.A.R. and it's a really great game as well.

So far for me:
NCAA Football 06 (Xbox) Forza Motorsport (Xbox) Football Manager 2006 (PC) (although I haven't played it a lot yet) Also, I'd wait for Bowl Bound College Football (PC), Total College Basketball (PC) and College Hoops 2K6 (Xbox): I hope they could be put in the list too... |

So far, FM2006 is hands down the best game I've played this year. Space Rangers 2 would be one of my runners up. Civ IV is a good game as well, but I'm not in love with it as much as a lot of folks here. EHM2006 is a good game, but not at the same level as FM2006 (which isn't surprising considering how much longer FM2006 has been developed). NCAA2006 was decent, but too many issues annoyed me to play it longer than a week or two.

Too early to say, but for me it is Civ IV by a hair over WSM 06. Both are great games that I love playing. However, I still have hope that some of the other games that are coming out later this year could challenge them.

1. Mini games 2. Challenges 3. Owner mode The only thing that bothers me is #2 and well, to each his own.. but I don't really think it's taking a "step backwards" as the engine has been redone and some new features have been added. Anyhow mine right now, 1. NCAA 2006 2. TPB 2005 3. MVP 2005 Last edited by MizzouRah : 11-16-2005 at 08:50 AM. |

Civ 4 is the only new game I purchased this year, and I'm quite hooked on it.

I'll miss both 2 and 3 a bit, but if the engine is a big improvement, it certainly overrides the lack of those 2 elements. |

Not many games are getting good scores for the 360 as of yet, which is really confusing me.

That's surprising me as well. While graphics aren't all that important to me, I know most gamers go crazy for graphics and what I've seen on the 360 is pretty impressive eye-candy. |

Gotta say WSM 2006 right now, though Title Bout 2 is up there with me and I am hoping BBCF will give WSM a run for it.

By no means do I agree with IGN most of the time, but still.. I figured they would have been blown away by graphics alone.
I'm still anxious to see King Kong and COD 2 reviewed. |

For me, so far this year, it would be Resident Evil 4. God of War is up there, too. I haven't played Mario Kart DS or Shadow of Colossus and I could see those on the list. But there's still a good 2 months of games coming.
Also, I haven't done any major PC gaming this year but I've been drooling over Civ IV for a few weeks now and I bet that would be on my list. SI
