On Topic: (Un)save my dynasty

So here's my bonehead mistake.

After playing my FOF 2004 dynasty for about 20 years, I wanted to start an alternate history with a loser team--BUT still keep my current team as my main game. So I chose a new team...and instead of SAVE AS, I clicked on...SAVE.

Of course, the game won't let me switch teams again. So I'm stuck with the new team for at least a year.

So, FOF 2004 genius dudes, is there any way to recover my cherished dynasty? If not, it's not the end of the world...but I would like to continue that if at all possible.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm thinking you're out of luck.

Yeah, I reckon I'm out of luck. It would hurt a lot less if I could blame anyone but myself.

On a related note, I am looking for someone else to blame. I'm considering Matt Millen, but I'm open to suggestions.

Is all you want to do switch teams back? Is that the ONLY change you want to make? Everything else the same? If so, I may be able to help you out.

Yes! Really! I just want to coach my old team again. If this is not some cruel jest, I'm all ears!

Let me check my notes at home tonight. This MAY be simple.

Okay, try this: the team you are in control of is in bytes 31 & 32 in the FGA file for your saved game. Open in a binary hex editor, change that to the index for your team, and try opening it.

I have no clue if there are other bits that depend on this, you may well screw up your saved game forever, etc etc etc. This MAY work. If it doesn't, don't go writing support about how some schmuck on the message board screwed up your dynasty, please...

Technically, some schmuck on the message board DID screw up my dynasty. But, to paraphrase Louis the something-teenth, le schmuck, c'est moi.

Anyhow--that worked!

You rock so throughly that I would nominate you to the rock and roll hall of fame, had I the power to do so.

Thanks--I'm in!
