OT: Watching Movies on the PSP

Obviously if I have people over or am just watching at home, I'll watch movies on my DVD player. So far, I've used my PSP as a pure gaming machine, and definitely enjoy using it as such. But I'm thinking that with the holidays coming up, I'll be doing some traveling, and it might be nice to pick up a few UMD movies for entertainment on the planes, for avoiding the family, and also maybe for helping me fall asleep. Except on the planes, I'll have access to a plug so the battery life problem isn't a big concern.

Is it worth watching movies on the PSP though? I mean, it's not so small that watching it becomes a squinting game or anything? Sound is alright? Things of that nature...

Any thoughts?

Sounds ok with headphones. The screen resolution is fine, I didn't find myself straining my eyes that much, if at all. The DVD's are barebones though, so if you like getting DVD's for the special features, there won't be any on the UMD's.

I only watched one before my PSP broke but it was fine. The sound was good as long as you have headphones. The picture is good too but the problem is that if you don't have a stand you have to hold it to get a good angle.

I watch movies all the time on my PSP. I purchased PSP movie creator. I use that for ripping movies from dvd and it puts the movies in the correct format for watching on the psp off of a memory card. IMO it is a great little program and beats buying UMD's.

Seg,
What size is your mem stick?
Where would I find this program?
How much space does the average movie take up on the mem stick?

I have a 1 gig stick. You can compress the movie as far down as you want. You can actually get a full length movie under 256, but you really start losing quality. Most movies for me end up at about 700 megs. The program can be found here: hxxp://www.pqdvd.com/psp/

The program is very easy to use. Like I said it will put the movie in the correct format and it will transfer the movie also. I am very pleased with it.
