Jim Hasslett is setting his terms to remain the Saints' coach? What exactly makes him such a hot commodity to be able to try this crap.

Methinks Jim Hasslett is setting his terms as to not remain the Saints' coach.

As for Haslett, most people think he is trying to get himself fired so he can collect on the remaining years of his contract and/or take a new head coaching job (Buffalo?). If he quits, he would forfit his salary and would not be able to take a new job.

The buzz has it that Haz is "well regarded" around the league. He may have more leverage than we realize.

Personally, I think that he is trying to force Benson's hand so that he can get a buyout of the last season of his contract. The team is in such shambles right now--from the field up to the owner's box--that I can't imagine why anyone would want to stay. Especially for a lame duck year like his final year would be.

Haslett has done more as a head coach with the least talent of any team in the league. he's a very hot candidate for every coaching opening this off season. He's seen where the problem is in the organization and is demanding complete control over the operations to eliminate that problem (mainly the GM and the owner)

I think they might give him what he wants.
