Axis and Allies Board Game

So my future-wife got Axis and Allies for me as a Christmas gift. She claims that she is going to play it against me, but I could see her losing interest in long games. We also won't have others to play the game.

With these two things in mind, I've been thinking about getting the Dday edition instead, as it is supposed to be better than the original for only 2 players, and the game lasts only 10 turns (if the Allies don't win by then, the invasion fails).

Any thoughts on the Dday edition?

Bob

I'd be all over this. Had to restrain myself in toys r us. I think Arlie might have already picked it up as a Christmas gift.

I'd also recommend you take a look at Memoir 44 as an alternative.

How complicated is Memoir 44? I'm looking for a easier to learn game, b/c if it is too complicated, Karen won't play it more than once.

It's been critically acclaimed for its elegant simplicity. Seriously.

One thing that looks cool about it is that it has 17 scenerios instead of basically the same game every time.

Thanks for the suggestion....

I have the D-DAY edititon and, it is for 2 player but very closely follows history in the games outcomes. Axis % Allies though is more fun with more than 2 players, since it gets to tedious with just 2 peopel playing.

Hmm, well, I don't want a game in which the Allies always win.
