What's in your MP3/CD player?

It seems lately there haven't been many good new releases of music, with a few exceptions. Just wondering what music you people are currently listening to.

My music...

Silent Alarm/Bloc Party - I really like 8 out of the 14 songs on this album, the rest are average or too boring to hold my attention. Sometimes Bloc Party gets to slow for it's own good. Price of Gas, Like Eating Glass, and Positive Tension are my three favorite tracks off this album. Kele Okereke has some unique vocals that helps give Bloc Party a unique sound. Matt Tong stands out on drums. 7.8/10

Plans/Death Cab for Cutie - I thought Death Cab's first album was above average. This album shows more maturity out of the band. I don't skip over any song on this album. Although it may be too slow and soft for most people. 8.5/10

You're a Woman, I'm a Machine/Death from Above 1979 - This Canadian rock duo has some really hardcore rock riffs. Consisting of a bass and drums, DFA 1979 knows how to rock out especially on Turn it Out, Romantic Rights, Blood on our Hands, and Cold War. I really really like this album, it's just fun rock. 8.3/10

Romance Bloody Romance/Death from Above 1979 - This album for the most part is a remixed edition of You're a Woman, I'm a Machine. One of the tracks is a cover song, and another is a new song by DFA 1979. Josh Homme, Jasper Dahlback, Sammy Danger, and Marczech Makuziak all make a re-mixed version of a DFA 1979 song and the results are pretty damn good. 7.5/10

The Very Best Of/Doors - A strong compilation album of the Doors' best music. While it won't please the hardcore Doors fan, it is enough for the casual listener. Riders on the Storm being my personal favorite. 9/10

Peace Love Death Metal/Eagles of Death Metal - Indie/blues rock from Josh Homme that's pretty decent. Although the album does suffer a few tracks not be very likeable, or good. 6.5/10

From Under the Cork Tree/Fall Out Boy - Overall it's a very strong second album for Fall Out Boy. While not being very orginal, it seems to follow the industry trends, thats not totally bad. Fall Out Boy knows what their fans want and gives them more of the same. 7.7/10

Antics/Interpol - Every song I love, I only wish this album was longer. 9.7/10

Aha Shake Heartbreaks/Kings of Leon - Good ol' southern rock. 8/10

Confessions on a Dance Floor/Madonna - I like 3 or 4 of the songs on this album, the rest sound like a continuation of one song. 6.5/10

Frances the Mute/Mars Volta - It's hard to classify this band into a certain genre of rock. All you need to know is that they can play their intruments really well and you must get this album now. 9.5/10

Mezzanine/Massive Attack - An essential for any trip-hop fans. The beats for this album are memorable and the album is just beautiful. 9/10

The Fat of the Land/The Prodigy - The band that brought techno to mainstream America. Most of you have heard one or more of their songs; Smack my Bitch up, Breathe, and Firestarter are their singles off this album. Those three songs are probaly the worst tracks on this album. 8/10

Rage Against the Machine/Rage Against the Machine -This album never leaves my rotation in the CD player. 10/10

Live at Montreaux 1982 & 1985/Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - Just a great album by the master of electric blues. 9.5/10

I have more, but I'm tired of typing.

I just loaded my Zen Micro up for a road trip to Dallas. I'd be here all day if I had to type everything that's on there. I've got an inordinate amount of "cool" Christmas stuff as an attempt to ward off repeated requests that we play the standards all the way there. Sufjan Steven's 3 volume Christmas set, Hawksley Workman's Almost a Full Moon, etc.

Currently listening to a Coldplay bootleg from Austin a few weeks ago. They seem very professional but not all that exciting as a live band.

Edit: They also do a pretty piss-poor rendition of Ring Of Fire which I will now hold against them for the rest of their lives.

I thought Lockjaw was a pretty solid album, and those girls harmonized quite well.

Everything i own is on my MP3 player, but i've been mostly listening to these albums lately:

The Go! Team - Lightning, Thunder, Strike (2004)
XTC - Skylarking (1986)
Broken Social Scene - Broken Social Scene (2005)

It takes some patience I guess. I would say that You Forgot It In People is definitely their best album. Broken Social Scene is a band i've given a pretty serious amount of listening on and still haven't formed a strong opinion. They have flashes of definitely brilliance, but I imagine if I didn't like some of the related projects so much (Stars, Metric) that I probably wouldn't give them so much time.

Old School Alert:

I kind of liked Depeche Mode's music back in the day (read: A long fucking time ago), and they have some hit or miss CD's since then. But I really like what they have done with their last album. It's very clean and well put together and going back to their roots a bit.

I downloaded it and hated it the first time I listened to it. But the songs have randomly come back on over the last few weeks and now I find myself just listening to the album straight through.

Good stuff from Depeche Mode. Actually, I'm kind of surprised they are still at it after all these years.

Also, it's not something that you just go cruising around with your buddies listening to in the car. More of a..."I need some music to listen to while I'm working at my PC or doing homework".
