The Time Killer Project v1.0

I got bored today and threw together this lame game called "QB Challenge". Yes, it's not very original... but I wasn't feeling too creative. The goal is to stop the progressbar on the line. The closer you get, the better the result. Each game consists of 28 pass attempts per game. Each pass is random between short, medium, and long. The longer the throw... the faster the bar goes. It doesn't do a whole lot yet, but I plan on wasting some more time on it as I get bored.

Hopefully it helps you pass some time at work or something.

Download at your own risk

dola - great game.

it's amazing how the simple games are so good at times. playing fm2k6, ootp, or bbcf is like a chore - so much to manage and keep track of - I feel like I'm at work. But a game like this helps the brain atrophy real good.

Me and a friend decided to clear the career stats (delete the qbc.dat file) and play 16 games. Then compare our "season" stats. I only had like 3000 yards and 23td's - 22int's. He had over 4000 yards, 56td's and only 8 int's. I must really suck or something.

Ouch.... 4/28, 24 yards, 0 TD, 13 INT

Maybe I should forward my game film to the Lions and see if I can land a deal?

Played it so much that I ran into a runtime error (#6 to be exact) and can't continue.

Started out poorly like others, then started setting goals of getting over a career rating of 90 and getting a 2:1 TD ratio. Ended up throwing more than 4,000 passes with around 280 TD's and 150 INT's (~92 QBR).

I was horrible when trying to use mouse clicks to stop it. Using the enter key on the keypad, my best score so far has been 20 for 28 for 353 yards 5 TDs and 0 INTs for a rating of 153.27

[edit]Just did 22 for 28 for 416 yds 7 TDs and 0 INTs for a rating of 158.33

since it triggers on the 'up' action of the mouse click (i guess the mouse click release?), my technique is to click down immediately, then just release the mouse click at the right time. my career passer rating is hovering around 115.

With your technique I'm getting way better:
14-28 280 yds 3 TD 0 INT 121,13 Rating in the last game

Hmm, I was just thinking with New Years coming... this game could test how drunk/sober you are.

Sober = 110 rating
Drunk = 67 rating

etc.

I think one way to make this game more diifficult is to make sure the same speeds are not repeated as much. Maybe make 5 speeds instead of three. It would be nice if there was three stats, game stats, season stats, and career stats. And maybe a seperate stat for best game, and best season.

Yep, things I'm working on are best game (based on rating), season mode (with seperate stats), and some difficulty levels. I could expand the type of passes like you mention (for speed). Maybe have a screen/flat pass option or something. I thought another option would be to have two buttons, one for snapping the ball and another for throwing it. Would eliminate the dbl-click and release technique and the enter key players though.

Obviously, I'm just getting started, but my QB rating is still better than Alex Smith's.

32-84 394 yards 3 TD 6 INT

35.52 QB rating

Dont know how hard it would be to implement but it would be awesome if you could make the number of throws per game variable, like say between 20-45 with 28-34 being weighted to happen a majority of the time.

Yes, the next version will have random attempts in season mode. If you have an off game, you may be not be allowed to throw as much in the next game...etc.

Posted a new .exe with a sassier interface and some new features.

New features:
- Ability to clear career stats
- Variable pass speed per game (some games easier, some harder)
- Variable amount of passes per game

Still working on the season stuff and best game/season feature.

I think the latest version is more difficult... but maybe not. Atleast over the course of a season.

My first season with the new exe:
249-423 3514 yards 31 td's 16 int's

Seems like I got a lot of "hard" games. That bar was flying.

One thing I did notice is that if your computer is multitasking, the game slows down quite considerably, so no cheaters!

Edit: By multitasking, I mean the CPU is actually doing something else. For example, I tried playing the game while Media Player was doing visualizations behind it. Not good.

If anyone still messes with this:

Added a few things:

- A blitz play.
- Best game notification.
- Adjusted the speeds slightly.

I'm Working on a season mode and a challenge mode. That will be released later under a slightly different name. So this is sort of the last version of this little game.

The install and the exe have both been updated via the links provided in the first message. Enjoy!

Good job, now add career mode, contracts negotiations, agents, newspaper, more teams and a real competition etc and you will have a good project for an ITP/NSS style sim.

Was able to get downloads.com to "publish" v1.0 on their site. Currently working on version 2.0. I'll try and make a point to v2.0.

Looks great, Riggins44!

One question though: I played for a bit but just got a "Runtime error 13: type mismatch" error message. Any ideas on what I need to do?
