Which Team is better?
The Lions handed OSU one of their two losses, and OSU lost to MSU, while PSU lost to Michigan on a last second play...still yet, the Buckeyes seemed to improve as the year went on, and played excellent football down the stretch.

Since Penn State has one less loss and beat them during the regular season I'm going to have to go with them. Ohio State has played consistently better since that loss to PSU though.

If they include head-2-head in the conference tie-breakers, this wouldn't even be a question.

I think, at this moment in time, if the two played on a neutral field, OSU would win, but it would be close.

I won't argue that Penn State won the head to head game, they got us on that day, but top to bottom Ohio State has a higher quality roster of players than Penn State. The difference of one Saturday may well have kept tOSU out of a shot at the title. This season PSU got the better end of things, Congrats to them. I'll even give Texas a nod, they manged to recruit the one player that could win a title for them. Its not like the rest of the team did anything against USC Vince was a beast and won them a title. Enjoy it till september! |

This is incorrect, the legal name of the university is Pennsylvania State University, Happy Valley, PA (or at least it was 20 years ago. Anyone with updated legal info please correct me) tOSU however has the legal name THE Ohio State University. Damn jealous bastards =) |

This is one of those questions with a lot of variables. Based on watching their bowl games, I would say OSU is better right now. But that is jmo.

Penn State beat them, no question about it. It was settled on the field.

Penn State had the better "Season" that is not indicative of having a better "Team" Countless examples exist of better teams not winning titles and or being better compared to others.
The Baltimore Ravens pop to mind right away, that 2001 team was not the best "Team" that season, but they had the best SEASON overall because they won the super bowl. anyway, moot point. tOSU is far better ![]() |

I'm a PSU fan, and I'd have to say that today on a neutral field, OSU would win. Troy Smith has made great strides during this season, and at this point, is only marginally worse than Robinson. PSU doesn't have the receiving corp that OSU does either. The defenses are pretty much a wash. I think it would be somewhat close, but I feel that OSU would win that game 8 times out of 10.

You are correct..sorry, I was thinking of Notre Dame for some reason when I wrote this. Actually, I'd have to say OSU should have beaten Texas. A bad call late in the game was the problem. Up by two(I think) with less than two minutes on the clock, OSU decided to try a rediculosly long field goal attempt rather than punt and keep Texas in Jail. (which they had done well al game long) Instead Texas wound up with good field position and evenually won the game. |

wouldn't the team that won on the field be a better indicator of the better team? So I'm not even sure the point of all this. The better team is the team that wins, otherwise I'm of the opinion that Temple is the best team in college football, their season just wasn't indicative of their talent. |

I'm as big of a Penn State fan as they come and I cant disagree with you more. After watching both USC and Texas play that game they were the two best teams in the Nation by a long shot. |

USC defense is terrible. I can tell you right now Vince Young, would not run like that on Penn State period. I think Penn State would have a harder time beating Texas then USC, but I think they could beat them both. (with their freshman healthy) |

I think that OSU is the bestter team and would beat Penn St. more often than not, but on the day they played, PSU won the game.

As an OSU fan, I think the Bucks are a better team than PSU. Having said that, considering that Penn State won the H2H matchup and finished with a better record, the Nittany Lions deserve to be #3 in the final polls IMO.
