Has a web advertisement ever influenced you?
I keep getting the redirected ad for tv show Ink? I think it is, and it made me think.. I don't think I've ever seen a single web ad that has made me want to purchase, or even be curious about a show, page or product.
I'm pretty much here already knowing what I am doing, and if I'm looking for something I know where to find it.. So if anything, all the popups, ads ect ect, have made me look apon said product or show/page negatively, Especially if they're persistant. So, anyone here made a purchase because of a web ad? found a site they thoroughly enjoy, or relate the said advertisement to finding a particular show they like? |

I've had quite a few influence me against a product, but off-hand not much that has a positive effect.

Sure... not often, but I've seen ads for products that I was interested in. Search engine ads are especially effective.
But this is one of those things where everyone swears they're never influenced by advertising. And yet, oddly enough, it continues to be a multi-billion dollar industry.

Web adds, TV adds, radio adds are all a waste of time to me. I don't pay attention to any of them for the most part. What I will noticed is a new car, but that is a one time thing and it doesn't get me to buy it because it's not possible. New tech stuff, like games, TVs, that stuff....still, I don't run out and buy anything but maybe I will remember it down the line.
For me the adds that work the best are billboards, because I am on the road and they give me useful info sometimes. Like where a truckstop is at, or a store, or something like that.

When I have gone into google looking for products/stores, I have clicked on the sponsored links if they look like they provide what I want.

I wouldn't say any have made me run right out and buy something, but stuff like netflix and vonage have been things that i saw in ads online and eventually purchased.

I think that's the point of most ads - to just create awareness of a brand or product, rather than to inspire instant spending. |

I'm in a different boat.. I've never found the web search ads effective - especially if I'm looking for a product.
Normally if I'm looking for a product, I'm looking for a review, not a sales pitch. I don't do much, if any shopping online - so I guess I'm not the target audience but also I am hesitant about visiting any site that I have no idea where the link is taking me. |

Never for a product. Occasionally for a vendor.

likewise. I've never seen an advertisement come up that made me want to click on it. The search engine ads are a bit different because, at least for google, they are unobtrusive (sp). |
