Question for Commisioners

Hi guys. We have a problem over in a league I'm playing at, I wonder if anyone could help.

Someone has traded an unsigned rookie to another team for an existing player. However, for some reason the unsigned rookie can't be traded!? He doesn't show up on the move/trade players screen.

Does this mean that deals like the Manning-Rivers one arn't possible if FOF?

To my knowledge, no. There is a workaround, though. What you have to do is have the trade happen outside of the game. Then, have the commish trade the existing player for the draft pick (before the pick is made). Then, have the new team pick the player with the draft pick.

That probably does not help you, as it sounds like you have already run your draft, but--if you have not gone too far--then maybe y'all can rewind and use the workaround.

Usually those types of deals are made during the draft using the Draft Utility and entered into the system according to the end result after the draft has been completed by the commissioner.

In most MP leagues, everyone uses this draft utility and if you are trading a drafted players rights basically, it is done in the utility. Once the draft is completely over, the commish will enter it in the actual game. If you have already completed the draft, it sounds like the teams will have to sign their rookies and trade them, and eat the cap loss for bonus.

So when the draft is over using the utility, the commish would enter in the actual game that the Giants drafted Manning and the Chargers drafted Rivers.

How do we get hold of a draft utility? Is there a generic one available or are they bespoke to the MP leagues?

Cheers

Marc (Hammer's commish and obviously a noob!)

I should also say that we only have 10 human GMs with the other 22 teams being AI led so I'm not sure how a draft utility would do non-human teams picks??

I think the two people who have made draft utilities are TredWel of the eNFL and VPI of the IHOF/GEFL. I'm not sure of their sharing policy or whether the utilities will suit your needs. Just trying to point you in the right direction to find out.

VPI once posted the php code to his draft utility, but I can't find the thread when searching here.
