Haslett new Rams D-Coordinator
Interesting move. I'm not exactly a Rams fan, but as someone who follows them closely I think this may be a fine choice. If he and Linehan can cooperate well it could be a very good tandem, and I think Haslett's HC experience will help in that regard.
Anyone else a little surprised Haslett didn't get a head coaching job elsewhere? Apologies if this news has already been posted.

Yeah, their D needs someone who is going to get on their asses. Plus, wasn't he a DC before he was an HC?

I am not surprised. There are a number of former head coaches who seem to do much better as an offensive/defensive coordinator than there role as head coach. Ray Rhodes and Dan Henning immediately come to mind, just to name a couple of people. |

Then you have guys like Chan Gailey (also from Pittsburgh) who go from being considered a good offensive coordinator, to being a crappy head coach, and then to being a crappy offensive coordinator. Gailey immediately popped into my mind when the Rams signed Haslett. You just have to wonder sometimes if it wasn't so much that Gailey and Haslett were very good as much as Cowher is just very good. I guess we will see. |

Looking at the Saint's defenses the last few years, I suspect that it was Cowher who was so good. I think this ultimately is a bad hire for the Rams, but that makes me happy as an Eagles' fan.

Dom Capers is another one.. Miami got a Hell of DC in him. And I think the Rams will be happy with Haslett (well, until a team tries to take him as their HC... don't do it! But they will).
