Red face Super Bowl grub

Let's hear it.

My tally:
  • many fried chicken wings (for you STLers, they were from Hodaks)
  • one "crock pot brat" + bun
  • much taco dip with Tostitos scoopers
  • several chocolate chip cookies
  • some veggies + dip
  • many Red Hook IPAs & ESBs

My stomach is rather squirrely today. Can't imagine why.

a homemade biscuit or two (I made 'em from scratch, not even with Bisquik!)
1/2 of a 10" supreme pizza (Red Baron brand?)
water
1 Sam Adams Boston Lager
1 Dominion Pale Ale
tortilla chips
a couple peanut butter cookies

Needless to say, what I ate yesterday has no bearing on why I stayed home today.

I'll probably regret asking, but what is a crock pot brat?

My menu was mostly taco dip, one loose-meat sandwich, and about 20 little ham wrapped pickle things with cream cheese.

Mexican Fries: We deep fried our fries, and put sauteed garlic, onions, and jalepenos on top of cheddar cheese on top of the fries.

Pizza bites as well.

Homemade, fried Buffalo Wings, a few Cool Ranch Doritos, and a few glasses of wine.

My wife was at work, so wanted to at least pretend like was at a party.

Never heard of Hodaks... hopefully they'll be at the Wing Ding this year. I usually get mine from Rookies.

I made boneless sweet and spicy chicken tenders (thanks Men's Health!) and some Brownies with icing.

My step mom had bbq ham sandwiches, chili cheese dip, cheese log, and lots of other food. That and a 12 pack of Bud select and yeah... I'm a bit "stinky" today.

My friend had a recipe for bratwurst cooked in a crockpot. I'm more of a "brat traditionalist" but it was very tender, at least.

Coug,
Would your friend mind passing that recipe along?
Was it a beer-steeped brat?

I was thinking of doing the beer-steeped brats, but ran out of time with making biscuits, etc.

I had a comment for this, but it seems like we've had brat discussions here before. I'll just hope you enjoyed it and leave it at that.

It was the easiest tasty food to grab before running back to the tv. No time for scooping the taco dip or digging in the bag for chips. Just grab a handful of the rollups toothpicks and run.

It wasn't during the Super Bowl, but I did have some Shiner Bock this weekend. Good stuff.

Good deal, was that your first time having some? It's nice to see that it's made it all the way up to Minnesota now...

It was my second time having it actually. Had it at a bar this weekend and had it for the first time when out at a restraunt for my friends birthday last month. Sadly there are no liquor stores I've been to that carry it (though several people have come in to the one I work at asking for it).

I had 2 turkeyburgers, 1/2 of a Pringles Can (Sour Cream and Onion reduced fat), and a few chocolate chip cookies. Also, downed a few diet cokes with a splash of rum in each.

Superbowl is like Turkey day II for me as we always go to a big neighborhood Potluck.

1-Mound of Corn chips smothered in Queso Dip and a cup of Salsa.
2-half dozen stuffed Mushrooms
3-Two homemade subs
4-Tater Salad
5-Assorted Veggies to live up to my healthy eater image
6-Assorted fresh fruit (See #5)
7-Brownie bites (Don't know how many but if they were each 1 MPH I would have been ticketed for speeding I am sure.
8-Many Sam Adam's White Ales
9-Two Tortilla roll-ups.
10-one last Brownie bite for the road.

Today's recipe:

Crock Pot

1 log of Velveeta (I get 2% milk)
1 can of Rotel tomatoes
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup of Ortega taco sauce
1 can of Brooks chili beans
1 lb of ground beef
1 package of taco seasoning

Cut cheese into cubes and put into crock pot with milk, rotel tomatoes, ortega sauce and chili beans. Brown ground beef, drain and add taco seasoning. Add meat to crock pot and let it heat.

About 1 - 1 1/2 hour later serve with Tostidos scoops.
