IT help, poker related...
Since I've moved, I have not been able to connect to the server at Absolute Poker. My error message reads like this:
The connection can not be established between your computer and our servers. Most likely, your firewall is not allowing you to connect. I am not using a router and am connecting via a comcast cable modem. I am using XP and in the security center the firewall is on, but I have selected off in the windows firewall page and have selected AP as an exception as well. I thought I might need to open a port. AP sent me the info and it reads like this: You may have requested this information if you use a Router,if you are on a Local Area Network or if you are behind a Proxy Firewall. Most routers and wireless routers have built in hardware firewalls. Your problem could be that the router or wireless router is blocking some of the Ports that Absolute Poker needs to use to access the internet. Unless you have a good understanding of what to do with these numbers, you will most likely have to get an IT professional to set up your Firewall with this information. These are the ports that your firewall needs to have open for Absolute Poker to operate correctly. 6980 - 7200 (the entire range), 8022, 8810, 8812, 8814, 8820, 8830, 8840, 8000, 8010, 8020 and 8040 IP range 66.48.48.1 through 66.48.48.255 Sincerely, JD I don't know what to do with these numbers. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Or if anyone else has an idea to fix this problem I'd be forever grateful. Last edited by Lathum : 02-10-2006 at 11:39 AM. |

You might want to post this on the Absolute Poker forum, as they might have a tech support representative who is familiar with this problem.
Absolute is a great site. In a short time, they've become the 4th largest online site. If anyone wants some more detailed info on what they have to offer, send me a PM. |

In the "Windows Firewall" control panel, go to the Exceptions tab and use the "Add Port" button to add those ports to the exceptions list. That may work.
Also, do you connect your computer directly to the cable modem, or does it go through another router (such as a linksys wireless router) first? |

What would the difference be if I was connected through another router? Thanks! |

Hrm, I haven't played with it a lot but yes, it appears you have to do them one at a time. Sorry.

I have corrected the problem. A nice man from India helped me. He had me start windows in safe mode and I was able to enter the poker room. When I reverted my computer back, it was fixed. I have no idea what the problem was. He thinks it had to do with their latest update and a virus attached. Thanks for those who tried to help via PM.
