Prayer and Good Thoughts Request

As I posted in a previous thread, I've been having some very strange headaches/pain behind my eye the past week. I had a brain/eye orbital CT Scan this afternoon and found out that the Opthamologist thinks I may have a Pseudo Tumor...I'll be doing research on this tonight, but won't be getting my results until probably Tuesday. I'm pretty scared and freaked out...any good thoughts and prayers directed my way would be appreciated right now.

Hang in there oliegirl!

I guess when hubby wants sex and you don't, you can use the real excuse "I have a headache"

And, like someone else said, don't start stressing too much until you have a reason to stress.

Did he say pseudotumor cerebri? I actually thought about this when you were mentioning your symptoms as they are one of the more common causes of headaches in overweight women from age 20-45. If it is a pseudotumor cerebri, while it is scary, and involves some significant treatment, it is not nearly as scary as a brain tumor.

Anyway, you have my good thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Swaggs (my wife) said the exact some thing when I asked her, using the same term of pseudotumor cerebri.

My translation of what she told me, into laymens' terms, was that it is not a tumor like we normally think, but rather a buildup of fluids that causes headaches by applying pressure. There are treatments, as EF27 said, that are not as scary as a brain tumor.

Good luck and health to you.

Yeah, it is not a tumor at all, but it is a failure of the body to reabsorb CSF appropriately. The first line treatment is Diamox or diuretics such as Lasix (or one of the newer ones) which can treat the problem in 80% of cases. Only if that fails, do more invasive techniques have to be used (such as shunting.) Also, weight loss is a key part of the treatment.

That's exactly what we were reading on the web last night, nice to know that we found some good and accurate information.

Yep. Dieting is now going to be first priority for both of us. I am still really scared, but having an idea of what it might be is better than not knowing anything at all.

There are some very good websites on the subject (particularly the opthamology websites.) Glad you found some good info.

Good luck and my prayers will continue to be with you.
