Microsoft Front Page Question

I'm using MS Front Page 2003 to run our league's website since I'm totally clueless at HTML and stuff like that. The problem is that I'm trying to get our league a file upload utility and to run Lonnie's GameCenter, but I can't get either program to work. The problem is that I can't change the properties of the folders. Anyone have any idea on how to do that?

You mean you can't change the permissions of the folders? Seems that'd be the case with an upload utility. If that is the case, then you can do that with an FTP program, usually by right-clicking on the specific folder.

yeah... when i'm in FrontPage, i go to right-click on the folders, and click on properties and there's 3 options that are unchecked. they're greyed out and won't let me check them.

so, i need to download a FTP program? if so, what do you recommend?

I believe this is related to whether or not your Web server is configured for FrontPage. Some servers don't have the extensions loaded. You can upload files, but beyond that you are probably limited.

You can use either a FTP program like WS_FTP or just try going into your Web site's control panel and manage the properties using your folder manager.

Core FTP is a free download and will allow you to change permissions to server folders. Right click and set.

Once you have published the first time using FP you can use Core to transfer all of your pages from that point on. FP needs to create a set of subfolders and hidden folders the first time to make it work.

Yeah, heh...I was trying to help Mike with this last night but I had to run. You can trying getting a free FTP program, or go in through Windows Explorer and change the permissions on the folder that way. I have a feeling that is why the upload util is not working.
