RIP- Cowboy

Curt Gowdy has died at 86.

If you remember the '70's, he was NBC's voice of sports, covering Final Fours, Super Bowls, World Series and the like.

Healso hosted the American Sportsman on ABC for nearly 20 years and was well known here in New England as the voice of the Red Sox from 1950-1965.

A legend.

And let's not forget his working The Naked Gun.

Man, for a long time, he was sports broadcasting. ABC's main centerpiece when they had a good Olympic run. That is sad news.

I was wondering what Curt Gowdy State Park just up the road was all about.

Now I know who he is.

My only memories of him were from Old Time Baseball...but he was a great announcer in the game. In fact, that was the only game I can think of where you could install two announcers and use either one...it was him or Mel Allen.

I loved his voice. And he was my announcer of choice in OTB too!
