Ping: Dynasty Readers

[shameless plug]

For any of you who have enjoyed reading my stuff in the past (and those who haven't tried - I encourage you to give it a shot), I've got two new dynasties I've just recently started.

One is a re-work on an old theme, another is completely new:

Quantum Football

Horsepower

Thanks!

Yes, but Blade, you see: he's being a board whore.

He wants more life over there besides himself and capsicum, so he posts his dynasty threads in general discussion where more people will see them.

You're exactly right. It's just like all those times you post threads here asking for people to come write for gamenikki.com.

Because they're exactly the same thing. Uh huh.

"Hey guys, I've got some games that need reviewing, but I don't have enough people to cover them all. Anybody interested?" is exactly the same as "Wahh, I don't like the moderation here, so I'm going to go set up my own board. Uhhh...guys? I'm lonely. Please visit!"

Sorry, FN. I bow to your incredible intellect and wit.

oh, and in doing so you aren't drawing viewers to your site as a side-result? i don't see you saying "if you aren't interested in being a writer please don't click on the gamenikki link!"

either way you're trying to generate free advertising for your site. silly rabbit.

and at least FN isn't trying to lure people in by promising free games. sweetening the pot, eh?

1. I'm not the only one bitching about the moderation. I created the forum to address a few distinct problems I have with the way things are run over here, specifically the policy on permanent banning. People would probably still be bitching about it if SkyDog hadn't made a superficial moderation change two days after I started the board.

2. Several of my dynasty readers have expressed an interest in seeing me continue writing, and I've decided to do so over at the new board. That's why I started this thread - to ensure that those folks would know it's there. Most of them will probably read without ever joining the board or posting. I don't mind, and I honestly don't blame them if they'd rather not bother. But I'm sure a few of them appreciate knowing it's there.

If you don't like what I'm trying to do here, kindly ignore me. I'm not trying to be negative.

Wouldn't your posts be more appropriate in the PC/Console Game Impressions Forum though?

I used to be a Dynasty Forum guy. Unfortunately I just don't spend much time over there any more. It's probably because I'm embarassed about leaving 3 or 4 dynasties to rot before finishing them.

If I were posting reviews, absolutely. If twice in three or four years I go on a writer hunt...not so much.

I think it's analagous to franklinnoble's situation.

He could post in the dynasty forum where people are already writing/reading dynasties OR he could post in the general discussion forum to recruit new readers.

Frankly, I don't care about either, but I see the situation as parallel.

Just as a matter of (IMO) related fact -- I've posted links to dynasty reports being stored off-site on a number of occasions.

After a certain point (time, number of bumps, whatever), I imagine this probably needs to go in the Dynasty forum/folder thingie. But I'd say this is pretty well okay by a slam-dunk margin, and anybody bitching about it is being pretty damned petty.

Just a quick bump... I've been busy the last month or so, and the dynasties got a little stale, but I've posted short updates to each of them, and I'm hoping to get them back on track.

Oh, and if anyone has any pointers on editing the historical draft files, I'd appreciate it... thanks!

I'll thread jack this and point out my FM dynasty is also going. I know there are some on the board that enjoy my dynasties, and I wasn't sure how many people saw I had started a new one.

Here it is:

Sheffield Wednesday 2009-2010

I am just wrapping up a 2010 World Cup preview, which I hope to post tomorrow (two more groups to go!)

I will wrap up the World Cup, and then go to a new thread dedicated to the 2010-11 season.

If anyone's still interested in reading, let me know. I'm going to shelve a few of the older ones if nobody's following them, as I have an idea for a new one I want to start.
