OT (Politics): Which will come first?

I was just thinking about this with all the talk of Obama, Hillary and (not realistic) but Condeleeza Rice. (who should just go be NFL Commissioner..)

Anyway....

Which will come first among these?

I mean, I'm sure some people will wanna hold hands and sing that it doesn't matter. But we know that it still does in a lot of places and for a lot of people. And so, I guess I'm just curious to know what other folks think. Because I'm not sure I see us being ready for any of these..well, of course, more Trout. But..the rest? I dunno...and it's not as clear-cut as being about gender or race.

You mean President that is black male vs white female vs black female? Or which of these three specific people will end up on a Presidential ticket?

Of those choices, I'd bet on a Hispanic male happening first.

I voted hispanic, because it's the easiest 'gimmick' to get votes. You pretend you're hispanic when addressing hispanic crowds, and pretend you're not hispanic when you're addressing non-hispanic crowds. If you're either black or a woman, you can't really do that.

If it came down to Condi or Hillary, I'd vote Condi. So I guess my answer is a combo of choice 1 & 2

Personally, I'd love to see Condi as the new NFL commissioner.

Would you rather have...

Hillary as NFL commissioner, and Condi as Potus

or

Condi as NFL commissioner, and Hillary as Potus

I think that with all the talk of Tagliabue retiring, that she'd be a good pick. She's smart, she's a huge fan of the game and given its a business and requires negotiation, etc., I can't think of anyone who'd be better.

That said, I have a hard time believing those guys would pick her as the face of the NFL, though it'd be the smartest move they've made in a while, because what other sports league is anything to having someone of that calibre interested and qualified to be their Commissioner?

But oh well.

The closest comparison I can think of is when former Congressman Wyche Fowler (D-GA) was mentioned briefly in connection with the MLB job.

See, this I don't understand. She has no business experience and precious little negotiation experience. Her career consists of being a professor and, later, provost at Stanford from the time she got her Ph.D. until 2000, with a few occasional stints as a foreign policy adviser when her academic study (the Soviet Union) was still relevant.

For the record, I think she'd be an appalling NFL commissioner.

n 2004-2005, Stanford is a $2.6 billion enterprise. This figure represents the university's consolidated budget for operations, a compilation of all annual operating and restricted budgets that support teaching, scholarship and research, including the budgets of all schools and administrative areas and the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center.

For the record, their endowment is something like $10 billion. The Commissioner's job isn't all about business anymore, it's largely about connections, public relations and management. If nothing else, people know who she is and that opens all sorts of doors. Not that you'd think the NFL would need that. But...I dunno, I think coupled with the symbolism, it's not like the owners want a puppy dog commissioner.

She'd not be someone that I suspect Gene Upshaw could cajole. And further, they say that Tagliabue's assistant is the only one interested in the gig after he leaves. But he can't be a spring chicken himself.

I don't see how she needs to be a CEO to go run a sports league or else, no one would ever want such jobs.

And some say GW Bush might want it after Selig leaves. Because you have to wonder what he'll do next after his 2nd term ends. I don't see him turning into Clinton, plus he doesn't have sort of popularity around the world.

George J. Mitchell(d-Maine) was once linked to the baseball Commissioner job also.
