BBCF 1.1 update

We are presently testing the update. Here is all thats been added/changed/updated so far.

Fixes:

-added Player editor (under Options screen)
-Fix polls to be more realistic
-Adjust end of season grades
-Look at recruit distributions (Midwest and west too good)
-tone down font white-level on the roster screen (compare to others for ease of viewing)
-change save backup to use folder and not .old files
-Look at recruit rankings
-Redo spread calculation to be more realistic and less "random"
-Adjust engine to remove the "randomness" feel in some games
-Adjust engine to give more of a penalty to teams that run a play to the direction of a blitz
-Other engine adjustments based on feedback
-Improved the polls and engine again
-Fixed some PBP bugs
-Added a bunch of reports:
- Under “Options”, you can now print out League, conf and team records (for individual game, season and career)
(For the rest, just click “Print Screen” on the interface screen)
- Polls report
- Result report (if you click the Print button on a week already simmed)
- Schedule report (if you click the Print button on a week not simmed)
- League Leaders report
- Standings report
-Improved the polls and engine yet again
-Add in "cheaper" coordinators as seasons go on
-Add in ability to increase/decrease Prestige changing by year (on game options)
-Add in dynamic coach prestige – goes up and down each season by performance and impacts recruiting
-Option to autosave after each stage on game options screen
-Fixed the yards comments on PBP (a few yards -> no gain on the play).
-Fixed some PBP bugs
-Added ability to update all team reports
- Under “Options” tab, you click on this option (takes about 30+ seconds)
-Fixed an RTE in the history
-Some interface tweaks
-Fixed the save format from 0.72

I will continue to add more reports, tweak the interface and the ability to import from other saves.

Is defensive holding still 10 yards? And can you still lose the ball if you go for it on 4th down, get the 1st, but get a personal foul after the play?

I think that is because Tim just combined several messages to the testers on several builds. So, subsequent builds improved the polls and game engine further.

Ding! Ding! Ding! I had to check the timestamp on this message to see if it wasn't bumped from January.

Just change the name to Maximum College Football and complete the transformation, ok?

(I say that in jest, I really do like the game, but COME ON...)

A little more description from Arlie

1. Coach prestige is now dynamic. All coaches start at "50" and it changes each season based on performance, recruiting class and how you meet board expectations. Now, it may take a few seasons for the coaches to start putting distancec between each other. The rating acts as another factor for recruits and can also help a bit in scheduling (ie, high rated coach can get a tougher game).

2. The changing prestige option box is now in (Very High - Very Low). This impacts both team prestige and coach prestige. I will try and get some of the ballparks out for changes at each level so you guys can decide where to set it. You can also change it at anytime in your career.

3. I've added the ability to switch user teams and change all team's prestige values at any point in the league in the game options menu (for online leagues, you need to be logged on as the commish to do it).

4. I've made a bunch of engine and PBP tweaks based on feedback. One example is a lot of the yardage "oddities" ("Nice gain on the play" - actually gain 1 yard; "picked up a few yards" - gain of 0 yards). They should be more accurate now in the phrasing.

5. Added reports for League, conference and team records (for game, season and career). Shows the top 10 for each category.

6. Added an option to autosave after each stage. I also now backup the prior save in a folder called backup (move the .sav and both .dat files).

7. Added more "cheaper" coordinators as the seasons go on (so you are not left with a ton of high-priced coaches after 20 seasons).

8. Added a button in the Options tab to update all team and player reports. Because everything is hyperlinked in reporting, this gets the team and player cards up to date.

9. Changed the format on some of the emails to reduce the repetitive feel.

10. Did all the other mentioned additions - modified polls and spread method, improved recruit distribution, changed the season grade method, engine tweaks, interface changes (prim font color), numerous reports, player editor, and others.

Things I am finishing:
11. Adding ability to export a full league site (with a main page showing all the links) with just one button click. This will be available for both single and multiplayer.

12. Adding ability to import another save game as a team roster base for a new league (This should go hand in hand with the editor).

Once I get 11 and 12 finished and continue to get confirmation from the testing team on the other items, this update will be ready for release. I will let people know a more concrete timeline once 11 and 12 are finished, but I can't imagine it being that long now.

Along the line of coach prestige, has the algorithm that affects coaching changes been looked at. In the past a national power like Florida St would lose its coach and hire the asst coach from Duke (who wins 1 game a year). Currently it doesn't matter (except to annoy me a little), but now it will impact programs since head coaches will matter.
