A serious question

Ok, maybe not...

But as I am sitting on the couch eating my way through a bag of Gummi Bears, I realize that I am eating them by color...not just reaching in for 2 or 3 and popping them in my mouth. I'm glancing into the bag to make sure I get 2 or 3 of the same color. Then I realize that when I eat any type of "mix" food (snack mix, mixed nuts, etc...) I never just randomly grab a couple pieces and eat them, I make sure I am not mixing pretzels with cheese crackers, or whatever else is in the mix. I now wonder if this is characteristic of my control freakish personality, or just a personal quirk.

So this poses the question: Do you eat gummi bears (or any similar mix food) randomly, or by color/flavor?

Mike & Ikes - I eat all colors but Green and Yellow. Then I eat one green with one yellow to finish off he bag. Packer colors.

Gardetto's - I eat pretzels first, because they are my least favorite. Then the bread sticks with sesame seeds, then the normal breadsticks, the last (because they are the best) I eat the rye chips.

Same here with stuff like Spree, SweeTarts, etc.,but for the opposite purpose -- in order make sure I don't end up eating all my favorites first & then I'm left with the ones I'm lukewarm about to finish the bag.

Oddly enough though, I don't believe I have the same habit with salty snacks, or chocolate, just with candies.

Wierd- with Starburst, I throw away the organges, insist on eating the mediocre flavors (yellows) first - and saving the pinks for last. With toast, I used to eat around the outside first, to save the good buttery part for the end. I thought this was just me...

With any kind of snack or candy, I will always "segregate" them into like-colors or categories. And I always eat my favorites first, since by the time i get down to just the yellow and green SweeTarts or the orange gummy bears, I may be no longer wanting something sweet.

The best of the best?

SweetTarts: Purple, then Red.
Gummies: Clear (pineapple flavor) and Green (apple)
Skittles: Purple and Red.
Smarties: White and Pink
Starburst: Red

My usual rule for sour gummi bears is that I grab three, and eat the two that are the same, then the loner. If all three are the same, I eat all three at once. If all there are different, it depends on my mood -- I'll either eat them all at once or individually. Although, with the (regular) gummi bears I had last night, I ate them all one by one.

With Gardetto's or whatever, the pieces are usually too small and of differen sizes, so I don't bother with all that - just grab a handful and pop them in.

I have strange, strange eating habits. I do the things you do with candy, gardettos, trail mix, etc.

I also have a strange way I eat meals. I start out with one thing, finish it and move on to the next. I rarely mix bites. I go to a burger joint, it's the burger, the fries, the drink. I never think about doing this or set out with a plan to do it.

I'll even eat second helpings the same way. I know, I have issues.

Thank God I'm not the only one. For awhile it used to bug me and I'd actually have to eat with a game plan to mix bites. I decided it just wasn't worth the effort. For whatever reason, I'm wired that way and that's the way it goes.

Radii does this too and it makes me crazy...except he eats what he likes the least first, and then saves his favorite part of the meal for last...but by then it's cold so it doesn't taste as good! I've asked him a thousand time why he does this and he says it's from when he was a kid and was forced to eat vegetables he didn't like...he'd eat them first and get them out of the way b/c they tasted better hot, then he'd eat the stuff he liked, but always one thing at a time and always saving the best for last. I just think he is weird

I eat meals this way. In fact, when I go to buffets, I always have to have each thing completely separate from each other and I freak out if there's any mixing. This usually results in me getting one class of items per plate.

Yesterday it was the Gummi Bears from Target, but every gren gummi I've ever eaten has been lime flavored...I don't like Apple flavored stuff (especially Green Apple - yuk!) so I know they aren't apple...maybe it's a Canadian/US thing?
