Dispute spawns Fordzilla
Report: Argument over girl leads to crushed car, apprehension of F-250 driver

BY Brittany Edwards

What started as a heated argument over a girl turned into Newton County’s version of a monster truck rally Wednesday when a truck was purposely driven over a Dodge Neon, according to a Newton County Sheriff’s Office report.

Several witnesses told authorities the same story — the Neon was pulling out of Jolly Homes Subdivision when a maroon Ford F-250 stopped in front of it.

Four or five men allegedly exited the truck and approached the small car. The driver of the Neon thought the men wanted to fight, according to his statement to deputies. Both Neon occupants then got out of the car.

“As they were standing there, the truck backed up very quickly and ran up on top of the passenger side of the Dodge — crushing the passenger side from the front bumper to the roof of the vehicle,” the report reads.

Both of the car’s occupants scurried out of the way to avoid being struck by the truck, according to the incident report.

The truck apparently became stuck atop the car, and the occupants had to push the pickup back off the Neon.

Once dislodged, the men sped off in the truck, leaving behind one of their female passengers. A short time later some of the suspects returned for the unknown woman in a GMC Yukon, according to the report.

The driver of the F-250, Scott Dewayne Fuller, 21, of Covington, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and hit-and-run.

“No one was hurt — luckily,” NCSO Investigator Sharron Stewart said. “We found the truck [Friday], and it, too, had damage.”
